Basically today when I was at Walmart shopping this guy came up to me when I was in the accessories area he looked to be in his early-mid 30s, I’m 24 and he asked me my opinion of what bag I think he’s girlfriend would like and since I work at another retail store I thought I could help and I told him the one with purples and pinks and he said cool thanks cause she needs a gym bag and she likes those colors, the bag itself was cute. Then afterwards he asks for my name and number! Saying if I could be his personal shopper if he ever needs help and stuff like that. I was just trying to be friendly but I don’t know what his deal is. Not even 5 minutes after he texts me thanking me.

It seems okay to me but what culture is this? I come one where forming friends is normalized so guy can have female friends and girl can have guy friends and it's no big deal. But maybe in cultures where this is big deal, perhaps the guy had ulterior motives besides friendship in this context.
