Is it normal for guys to not initiate conversations with the girl they like?

Hmm if he had your number, even if he was shy he’d probably still text you periodically if he was interested. Try telling him in person “text me if you need anything” related to something you are both doing. Maybe worried he’s being a bother. If he knows you expect a text he’d do it.

Yes some guys are simply intimidated or they are shy and so they hesitate to initiate conversations

Very normal. I seldom initiate conversations with women I like. It's not got anything to do with being intimidated or shy. It simply has to do with her giving me some sign she wants that.
