So I've been talking to this one guy for a few months now, our first meeting was at park, we went for a walk, and for the second meeting he invited me to his house for dinner. I arrived at his place, we went shopping for ingredients, cooked and ate together, then he walked me to the bus stop. I even met his parents. After that we were still texting, and then he invited me to go to the cinema. It was great, after that we talked a lot, he walked me home. He's one year younger than me and is still in high school. At the end of the last meeting he told me that he's going to prom with his friend who lives near him. That made me really sad because me and even my friends thought that he would invite me to prom. I don't really get it. Does he see me as just some regular friend or not? I thought he liked me more than that, why would he invite me for dinner, introduce me to his parents if I wasn't more than a friend? Should I feel upset about it?

Yes, I would be upset about it. My first thought was the age difference between you too. That might be another reason he asked someone else. He probably thought you'd say no, since it sounds more like a junior prom, not a highschool prom. He probably wishes he was the same age or older than you. 🤷🏼♀️
but he's just one year younger than me, he's a senior at high school and i graduated this year. so the age difference is literally non-existent

Okay, have it your way. He doesn't like you! He likes the other more and better than he does you. Now, did that make you feel better than my original answer? 🙄
noo i absolutely understand ur answer but do u really think its because of the age gap? if he really liked me then he wouldn't care about my age i guess. i didn't mean to upset u, ur answer helped me but im just asking more about that age gap problem.
From what I have read here, you have the advantage over the other girl because you're older and not in school anymore. So, there you go.
Don't take it personally, he's still in high school. You're dealing with a kid who still has the high school mindset. He's probably going to want to take a girl who is still in high school to the prom. My friend's daughter went to the prom with a guy that was still in high school. It was kind of weird that she was already in college and still trying to go to high school proms, like she didn't grow up mentally.
