Why my male friend keeps a distance from every girl after rejection?

He liked my best friend and they were seeing each other for some time. She had a huge crush on him and they kissed few times but then she rejected him. I know it really hurt him. It was like 18 months ago. Now his attitude is like that girl didn't want me so I give a shit about the rest and i am gonna stay rather single. He could have many girls but his attitude now is so negative and he became pretty cold. He absolutely closed himself off and honestly he doesn't look like he's gonna change. He is like he can't take that she didn't want him at the end.

Because rejection sucks, and constant rejection sucks more. Especially at that age when you’re still figuring things out & the reality of the real world is still revealing itself. The hormones around that age don’t help either. You start to wonder if you’re unattractive or creepy, then you see everyone who did get together either break up or get divorced and you wonder what the point even is.


He’ll either keep trying until something works, give up dating and just focus on school/work/friendships, or become an incel and/or subscribe to some girls OnlyFans.
