LOL. This happened to my SO. She started dating a side guy, so instead of making her pick between us, I was fine if she just dated both. We didn't have any kids together, combined with the fact that I think it's kinda kinky, so It was actually something I was willing to accommodate. She actually moved in with him for a couple of years, rendering me the side guy but after a couple of years, her other guy got transferred to another country for work. They've been together 10 years now and go away on holiday a couple times a year but otherwise is back with me.
Monogamy is NOT NATURAL for primate mammalians like humans.
97% of all mammals are poly with noted incidences of poly in the other 3% too.
Our closest animal relatives (chimps and bonobos who share 98% same DNA) are NOWHERE CLOSE to being monogamous.
And it's even more rare for a MALE to be monogamous instinctively. We evolved to mate with as many females as possible. Monogamy goes totally contrary to who we are at a biological, evolutionary, scientific and anthropological level.
