Is it weird that a guy developed a crush on me after I smiled at him once?

He used to secretly check me out before and turn around and stare with big eyes when I walked by. Once I smiled at him in the hallway and the week after that he kept turning around to stare at me from afar in the lecture every 5 seconds until his friend noticed and teased him about it calling him loverboy. This was years ago and I recently found out through his former friend that he Falls in love with every girl that pays him any attention. After paying close attention to his interactions with girls (women approach him quite often since he is handsome) I noticed he always wears a big smile and acts quite flirty. Why do some people act so desperate even if they are hot? I talked to him once but found out he made a playlist dedicated for me with love songs that describe our „relationship“

I don't know some be like that. Friend of mine would Imagine a rl with a girl just after one friendly conversation and having a crush. While he's not hot like the guy in your example he's average and kind enough to have been in rls and friends with benefits multiple times.

You’re missing the point. His brain thinks every girl that is nice to him is his dream girl. Even many shy men have standards and don’t fall in love with every girl that is friendly

But he is clearly shy and desperate from it the reason most guys that are shy won't act like him is most shy guys won't get attention from women in the first place and this is not some nrw thing plenty of people that don't normally get attention from the other sex get obsessed with them once they do
