I live in NYC, one of the unfriendliest places in the world. Strangers here usually never make eye contact and only greet those who they are familiar with. I rarely ever get anyone approaching me and asking for my number. Its happened probably only 3 times throughout my life. But sometimes, I get weird encounters with guys where I can't tell if they're interested or not.
I would be walking down the hallway or on the train. Then there would be a guy staring at me with a very blank face. I would look back at him but he wouldn't smile or say anything at all. Its just very strange. Sometimes, guys would make eye contact but not do anything, not even smile at me. They just blankly stare back. This is why I can't tell if he's actually interested.
I was walking on the street today past this guy sitting with a girl eating some food. Strangely, the guy kinda smiled at me (something strangers just never do in NYC). Then he broke eye contact and looked away as I past by him. Maybe he was just being friendly? I really can't tell what these guys are thinking.
men usually avoid eye contact with me entirely or stare. Women don't stare at me. Women are much friendlier to me than the men.

I heard that in New York there are twice as many women as men because women move to New York hoping to get rich men and men move out of New York when they can’t find jobs there.
You need to really lower the value of guys staring at you... It's not that big of a deal.
I think staring is a big deal... particularly if you live in a city where strangers avoid eye contact with each other. Women never stare at me. Its only the men...
Okay, then think it's a big deal. I'm telling you it's not based on a whole lot of experience. You seem to think any guy that stares at you wants to date you, which is absurd.
well... so why don't women stare at me then? there has to be a reason why men stare and not women
Everyone stares at other people at some point.
no. because i know for a fact that women very rarely stare at me.
Sure. Because no one can stare at you without you knowing it...😂 😂
In my city, people tend to avoid eye contact. It is not common for people to make eye contact or stare at each other here. And usually if eye contact is made, people would quickly look away because it is awkward. However, staring and not looking away must mean something completely different.
I love it when pink anons post a question and then argue about the opinions they receive because it's not what they want to hear... so stupid.
Neither encounter sounds very promising to me tbh
