Why won’t he ask for my number?

There is this guy I work with and I really like him. I think he likes me too but he won’t ask for my number. All the signs are there he only talks to me from my department, he only smiles at my coworkers when I’m there otherwise he’ll ignore them. Flirty teasing, stares, he always started our conversations but recently I have started talking to him first. Our attraction towards each other is becoming more obvious, since my co workers have started catching onto it. I know he is single and seems very interested in me. What may be the reason?

Getting involved with people you work with is a no no for guys because it can be hell on earth for them if it doesn't work out so maybe he has been burned before or maybe he really isn't that interested or maybe he is looking for a bigger sign of interest from you or maybe... lol We could go on and on here
