How long does it take a bruise to form after getting hit?

I was punching the wall and my knuckles have been just a little red all day. I even broke the skin on two knuckles, why isn't there a bruise?

How do I make it bruise?

And everyone can skip the part about asking what the hell is wrong with me or why I would do that or that its not healthy or that I should seek help lol

There's not enough of a blood supply to your knuckles for a bruise to form to any extent. Bruises are blood leaking into tissue. Wrists bruise easily because they have a huge supply of blood running through a small area.

Usually a bruise forms within an hour or so after an impact although it will be longer if it's an area without much blood supply.

Not a lot of blood vessels in knuckles, so they don't bruise much. I've scraped mine up and gotten scabs, but very little bruising.

Btw, stop punching walls. Especially without wrapping your hands. You'll break the bones and then you won't be able to punch things, which would obviously suck.

Now that you mention it, I've never really noticed. Usually when I beat my wife I don't notice the bruising til the next day. When she gets home I'll give her a good belt and keep my eye on it. I'll let you know later.

Bruising comes from ruptured blood vessels near the surface of the skin. But that can't bleed outside the skin because the layer isn't broken

So you generally bruise in more fleshy places that are not mostly fat (e.g. biceps thighs etc)

In fact I've never seen a bruise on the knuckles.

I don't think knuckles can bruise then again I've never punched a wall.

Some people are harder to bruise. You might be one of them. That and knuckles are harder to bruise than a soft squishy part of your body.

Knuckles don't really bruise. You need soft muscle tissue and lots of blood vessels to form a bruise.

knuckles generally don't bruise, bruising is caused by internal bleeding so if you want a bruise walk into a doorframe or coffee table with your arms/legs, those are the easier areas to get bruises
