Why does he look away really fast when I look at him?

There is this guy in my class, we have made eye contact twice that lasted more than 5 secs. The first time we both couldn't look away and the second time he sat down and turned his whole body to the back facing me and held eye contact for a good amount of time. I like him but for some reason I didn't smile.

He looks at me now but when I look at him and try to smile he looks away too fast before he could see me smiling. At times during class he will turn his body again to look at me or look from the corner of his eye.

Does he find me attractive or no? and also why does he look away really fast now not giving me time to smile at him?

Most guys will look at a girl like this out of attraction. I know there's this girl in my lab that works directly across from me and it's hard to take my eyes off of her. The fact that he's looking away is because he doesn't want you to think he's staring at you and/or he's shy.

I thought maybe it was because I didn't smile and he figured I was not interested. I tried smiling at him twice, but whenever I do he looks away really fast and it bugs me. I am too shy to go up to him but I thought if I smiled it will show him I am interested in him

He's probably missing the smiles due to looking away so quickly. Try this: When you catch each other looking, smile then look away and continue to smile for a few seconds since he'll most definitely look back and see you smiling. This might give him SOME confidence, haha.

I assume all people who are staring at one another, dancing between eye-contact and looking away, are of the opposite gender and both reasonably attractive, are eye-flirting.

It's so hard to make a move lol I have tried smiling at him so many times but now he looks away too fast to even notice and to top it off I am too nervous to even speak to him lol
