Please do not tell me that my weight is fine because I have made up my mind about gaining weight.
I have tried working out and even drinking Ensure Plus and I am still not gaining weight, like I want to, so can someone please help.
Lol I have the same problem. Except mines is more severe. I have to gain 30 pounds. I've gained like 4. You should try and count your calories. I'm not sure how it goes for girls, but for guys, you should aim for 2500 calories a day. And you should also aim for like 100 grams of protein. Drink like 2 cans of Ensure Plus a day. That's like 700 calories. Peanut butter is also a really good source of protein and calories. PBJ FTW. My favorite thing, and its pretty easy to make: I get a big flat pan with raised edges (frying pan?) and put a bit of oil in it. Then, after letting the oil heat up, I cook thin food in it. Like, I get pieces of pita, and they turn out really nice. In the pita, I cook like 10-12 of these turkey slices, which is like 600 calories alone, and tons of protein. After that, you can put whatever. I have weird taste, so I put ranch dressing, ketchup, and hot sauce. You could put lettuce and tomatoes and whatever. You could also probably do exercise. I heard that for muscle building, 6-8 reps max is good.
Then again, I've had crap results. I've only been with this for a couple of days though.
Btw, isn't it annoying how everyone is like, "well GAINING weight is easy, losing it is the hard part?" Not for me.
Lol people always tell me to stay my size, but I want to gain weight. At one point I was drinking Ensure Plus, but then I would forget to drink it or I wouldn't feel like drinking it. As for exercising, I do like 3 reps of 20. I usually do squats, lungs, calf rises and abs workouts, depending on how I feel. I don't really count calories for some reason, which I probably should, but I don't really eat a lot of junk either, I like my fruits better than potato chips.
if you want to gain 10 pounds of fat.. eat a lot of greasy food.. and don't do any cardio until you gain that 10 pounds..
if you want to gain 10 pounds of muscle.. workout as much as you can.. but do it the correct way.. even though your goal is to gain muscle, you must also do a lot of cardio to balance it out.. as far as food is concerned, eat plenty of protien. eggs in the morning with ham.. stuff like that.. and try for 4 to 5 small meals a day instead of just 2 or 3 big ones.. oatmeal.. whey protein powder to make protein shakes with.. peanut butter.. and also stretch everyday.. even on the days you don't workout..
so there you go.. I'm not sure how long it would take for you.. but for me it would take about 2 good months to gain 10 pounds of solid muscle..
good luck
Yea but I don't lift everyday.. I play tennis so my fitness is kinda unique.. I can't get too buff but I need a really strong core, I need lots of agility, speed and flexibility =D.. I have to run a lot too.
Shake? as in on that final set or final repetition do I shake because I'm pushing myself really hard? sometimes.. I used to try to lift higher and higher every other day about a year ago but now I try to build efficient muscle.. I do a lot more repetitions but yea I shake a little when it comes to the 3rd set or especially during pushups.
Probably nothing you don't already know, but... I'd say eat more calories per day, but NOT just greasy crap junk food! That won't help at all. You'll gain weight, yeah, but it'll be waaaay unhealthy. Eat things high in the good fats (omega 3) like avocado. Basically just eat more, but eat healthily. It won't happen really quickly, but gradually you should gain some weight.

This is simple in design, tough in accomplishing. One thing builds muscle, protein. You weigh 120 lbs. so combined with an intense weight lifting program (heavy weight, low reps, rest between sets) you need to eat about 180 grams of protein throughout the day. Eat every 2 - 2.5 hours. Eat a can of tuna right before going to bed and if you can get up in the middle of the night to ingest 20 grams. It is hard getting used to eating that much especially when you aren't hungry but a week into it you will start gaining muscle. Muscle always looks better then fat. If you want to put it on mostly in your ass, squat twice a week. Good luck.
Shake all the time, it is the adrenaline. That means you are pushing your body to the point it needs some chemical help. You really should consider a power lifter type routine for what you want. Heavy weights, like squating at least your body weight, etc. If you can do more than 6 reps in a set you don't have enough weight. I guarentee you will grow.
