Strange pain in my upper body?

Anonymous
I haven't learned enough of the human body to know exactly which organ is hurting, but I'll just say it is below my chest and above my stomach. It's in the center of my upper body, but alternating between my left and right sides.

Two days ago, my mother and I went grocery shopping. All of a sudden, I felt a sharp pain in my left side, but it wasn't enough to cry out in pain or stop me in my tracks. I continued to act normally, but held onto my side to reduce the pain. People in the store looked at me weird, though my mother never asked why and I didn't get the chance to tell her. She was on the phone a lot or talking. Eventually the pain left and I forgot about it.

I bring this up now because the pain keeps coming back. Sometimes it's in my left side and sometimes my right. Maybe just my right, but I don't remember. Last week, I was in the kitchen trying to make food, when my side hurt so bad that I had to stop. I knelt down on the ground because the pain was too much to focus on anything. That was the start of the pain.
It seems to be happening more frequently now. I was laying on my stomach when the pain began again, which is why I ask these questions. My heart is also hurting a bit, too.

What's wrong with me? Should I see a doctor? My mother's been busy and we can't pay for a visit right now...
If it helps to say this at all, a couple weeks ago I had a big panic attack (my first REAL panic attack). I was gasping for air and I told my mom repeatedly that my entire body was going numb, even with me jumping and moving constantly. My face, hands, arms, legs, and stomach tingled and went numb. She said it was because of the panic attack and that it's normal. But after that, my sides below my breasts but above my stomach will hurt at random times.
