Weight lifting: does it slim you down at all?

I know cardio is the main fat burner but does lifting help at all? I'm bulking up a little and people are starting to notice, which is cool, but I also want to slim down and while I'm doing cardio, it's not as much as I would like. I just wonder if the weights help at all. They'll tighten up the fattier parts in places right?
