Want to lose weight?

I am one of those dudes that eats a lot of junk. Right now I still do, but try to keep it around 1800 calories. Started hitting up the gym and using the stationary bike and lifting weights. My goal is to lose 30 lbs. Even though I have been trying to stay around 1800 calories (give or take), even before the gym I have only maintained my weight. My thing is having to come to terms with eating salads for the rest of my life (which is not necessarily a bad thing). Right now I am at the point where I only drink water and Gatorade (the only thing I that can considered my alternative to juice). Don't know how to put a dent in my weight. Just want to be able to see something other than my gut (maybe a six pack, but heard you have to be around 8% body fat for that).
