It doesn't matter that women do it every day, many women do it multiple times, or that we have modern medicine. It's still really scary.
I'm a nurse, and while I don't work in labour and delivery, I did have student placements in L&D, so I have watched women give birth first hand (both vaginal births and c-sections), and cared for women post-delivery. I've also heard a lot of stories from other nurses and from women I know.
Yes, the body heals, but if you saw a 4th degree laceration* and knew that that could happen to you, you'd probably be pretty scared too.
* a tear that goes through the vaginal lining, the perineal muscles, the anal sphincter, and the rectal lining (here's a link to a slideshow showing the different kinds of lacerations women can have during child birth (drawings): link )
And that's only ONE of the scary things about giving birth.

I am so scared about the whole concept that I am considering paying someone to deliver it for me. I am scared that it would hurt a lot, I'm scared of the scar, I'm scared of how it will deform my body, I am scared of being an invalid laying in bed for all those time not being able to work, I'm scared of the whole thing.

I am scared of the entire idea of the delivery, natural or C-section because both will hurt eventually. Just because women go through it every day doesn't mean it isn't scary. People have surgery every day and that's scary for the person being operated on and their family too. Modern medecin can't numb all of the pain for natural labour anyways because with out much feeling you can't push. Think about it this way: Would you be scared if YOU had to go through it?
