Wait, more info. We have an infant in the household who had respiratory issues when he was born, a month ago. Also live with my grandma, who as they say, is one of the most vulnerable as well. I’d get it for me, and for other people. Anyone who says the vaccine is a conspiracy is just an idiot, I’d rather die than have others die because I’m unvaccinated.
are they just an idiot, or are you being manipulated through fear? Granted, you have a good argument for getting the vaccine, if I was in your position and knew the vaccine would actually protect those around me instead of putting them at greater risk, I'd take it
but there is 0 evidence an effective vaccine can be made for this virus, do a little research on it. Whatever does come out of all this funding his not going to prevent coronavirus, just like the flu shot doesn't prevent the flu.
@Shamalien since the virus hasn't been around long, of course there isn't going to be a current tried and tested solution, however vaccines have saved lives and irradiated viruses in the past, and why the flu jab (and no vaccine) is perfect, it could lead to higher levels immunity for those not yet exposed by allowing the white blood cells to develop antibodies for someone who not yet has formed any immunity

There's been many viruses similar to this one in the past, like sars, and we already know that for this kind of virus that enters the lungs and sits there, it is nigh impossible to vaccinate against. This is a giant embezzlement scheme and taxpayers need to be a sold a good story, just like the shitty startup you invested in tries to sell you a nice story when you receive nothing back from your investment

I don’t appreciate these comments under my own, @Shamalien. A quick search can prove you wrong, because certain vaccines prevent respiratory infections and transmission. The whole point of vaccines is to be unable to spread these infections, because you do not have them yourself. That’s why people with asthma are also vulnerable to things like COVID. Goodbye.

Flu vaccines do work. They prevents millions of illnesses a year. But flu viruses mutate quickly and develop new strains every year. So a single flu vaccine reduces your chance of catching flu but doesn't eliminate it, and it only lasts for one year.

If you get corona the vaccine will make it worse, they prevent disease by making you ill in a lesser dosis or injecting other foreign material in your body that disrupt the virus. Medicine on the other hand is designed to cure you. Both can be worse or better than the actual virus so its good to be informed of what options there are available and picking the least risky one.
