Here are some tips:
1. wash with anti-bacterial soap, I use Cetyphil bar soap that is anti bacterial for sensitive skin
2. Use a clean wash cloth, and just pat. If you scrub it in then other bacteria from the wash cloth will get into your face or you will just irritate your face a lot
3. After you are done with that, if it is at night, you want to put on benzoyl peroxide about 5% is good I think, or you can get Benza Clin from the dermatologist (that's what I use) and after that make sure you put on some lotion because the benzoyl peroxide can dry your face up causing your skin to create more oil causing more bateria and more acne.
4. If it is in the morning, don't put on benzoyl peroxide (because it makes your skin more sensitve to the sun), and instead just use facial sun block. I use the cheap PX store brand that is similar to oil of olay's brand. It's about $2 and I'm OK with it.
That's about it with what I do with my face.

Eat healthy. Lots of lean protein, fruits and veggies, green tea and water, whole grains, omega 3 fats. Use something gentle on your face like cetaphil cleanser, and exfoliate like once a week. I've heard good things about neutrogena masks.
I am a big fan of home remedies like egg masks. Separate the egg. Put the white on your face and let it dry then wash it off. Do the same with the yolk afterward.
Mush up avocado, and use it as a mask. Strawberries are also good.
Yogurt is a great one. You can add honey if your skin is dry.
Oatmeal is another one. Tea makes a great toner.
I usually attribute acne to inflammation, which can be caused by stress. The body needs nutrient dense foods and plenty of protein, fiber, and water to keep the skin healthy. If there's too much sugar in the diet, or the person is too stressed out and not getting enough sleep, that can cause flare ups.

T-gel. It's a topical solution you put on after you wash. It dries the acne up! I think you can get it over the counter at the pharmacy.
this is what I do to prevent this. first I wash my face with soap and water(you gotta get the organic kind of soap because sometimes they add chemicals to some other kinds), and then I use the Clean and Clear astringent. that is by far THE BEST product out there. its very fast acting. make sure you do that in the morning and then at night. and also drink plenty of water. that flushes out all of the toxins in your system. :) I hope this helps!
Neutrogena On-the-Spot Acne Treatment has always worked for me. give it a try. but layer it on.
