I’m vaccinated, have COVID and my symptoms have been really mild so the vaccine does work. 4 of my friends, who are also vaccinated, got COVID and they also had mild flu like symptoms.

While the vaccine may not protect you from getting COVID per say, it should protect you from getting severe symptoms that could result in hospitalization or worse.

P, I'm sure you know at least most of these, but I'll run the list - - - - -

1. There is an inherent problem with the time delay from infection- to contagious- to feeling REALLY bad- getting treatment- not being contagious but still getting better- being "fine" in all respects except a little extra mucus/tiredness which can linger for weeks, if not months, afterward.
2. The "vaccines" used so far do NOT prevent infection with the virus (es), and only help make infections less severe.
3. Viruses mutate! It's a fact of (viral) life! A drug that fights one may not/will not fight another. Example: flu shots. Scientists and doctors take their "best guess" each year from a variety of inputs, and if the "flu combo shot" for that year is over 50% effective- that is, if it's effective against at least half of the specific viruses targeted- THAT is a REALLY GREAT YEAR!
4. A "fully vaccinated and boosted" person who runs around with no regard to his own safety and that of others can be just as likely to infect others as a non-vaccinated person who is very diligent and safe about their movements. ref time of exposure, et al.
4A. Don't let vaccination- thus far, really a treatment, not a preventative- lead you into a false sense of security. This is (arguably) the reason for the high incidence of the vaccinated being able to re-infect others- they over-trust the meds and just don't take any responsibility. Vaccines don’t prevent contraction of the virus, they prevent infection, or at least serious infection. As the virus mutates, there are new variants, and it seems that they get more contagious but less serious in severity of infection, which could actually be good news, overall. This omicron one that’s spiking now is super-contagious, but again, seems to be less severe. We’re in a weird place where the pandemic is still going on but we’re trying to live around it the best we can, just with precautions and some restrictions. Depending on the state you live in, the precautions and restrictions will vary, as will the attitudes of the residents. Florida has famously just let it rip, and people are still having fun, but they’re having a bad explosion of the virus and are wondering why the government can’t send them the lion’s share of the treatments, and the counterargument I guess is that it’s tough to not have enough for other places that might need it too when you’re taking the least precaution and setting yourself up for this result. But anyway, some people are eager to travel, maybe to places like Florida where they’re more free to have their fun, and maybe they do, but they come home with Covid, knowingly or unknowingly, and now they’ve exposed everyone all over the place, most notably airports, which can spread it across the country. Lord knows we all argue about what should or shouldn’t be done enough already, don’t need to do it again here, haha, but the fact remains that it’s a virus that spreads, often causes symptoms, people are being tested like crazy, but yet still tons of people probably DON’T get tested and just either shrug it off as another illness, and then go about their lives, probably Un-cautiously as it concerns other people, further spreading it. Again, we don’t need to bicker over the degree to which we should or shouldn’t lock down and hide in our homes til this is over, but the fact is, whether you think it’s serious or not, the bare facts are that it is a virus and it operates the way viruses operate, period. So whether someone is vaccinated or not, it’s spreading around, and will continue to, and we’ll all either naturally adapt to it through immunity or we’ll need periodic immunizations like we have for many other infectious viruses and diseases. My aunt got it and gave it to my dad at Christmas (Merry Christmas!😂), and they’re both relatively fine despite being ill and being in their 80s, because they were vaccinated. I might be burying one of them this week if not for that🙏🙏🙏

Because there are an all time record of people getting tested, and some might argue they are getting tested unnecessarily. We were all told to get Vaxed and we would be good, and we were all told that just because we got vaxed did not mean that we would not still catch or carry COVID. Getting Vaxed just meant we would be 10 x times more likely not to sick or display symptoms.

Please remember that 99% of people exposed to COIVD never got sick or displayed symptoms to begin with. So getting vaxed just means you are like 99.99% less likely to get sick or display symptoms.

Right now there are only 825K who have died from COIVD in the USA out of 56 million cases... so that.015% of the test positive that's tied die. That's only one and one-half percent of the test positives that have died. 56 million is only 17% if the the total population, and a test positive doesn't even mean you have displayed symptoms or are even sick. So out of that 17% only.015 have died, less than 5% gave been hospitalized so that leaves over 10% of the test positives scratching their heads wondering what the big deal is?

Consider there is a population of 329.5 million in the USA... that means roughly only 17% of the population has tested positive and only which means.0025% of the population has or would die from the COVID. That's like two hundredths of a percent of the total population, with less than 1% having been hospitalized. So that leaves roughly 300million Americans scratching our heads trying to figure out what the big deal is?

So the answer to the your question is simple vaxed or not vaxed there is a 17% chance you will test positive and only.0025% of chance you will die of COVID and those numbers have remained pretty consistent through out this entire Pandemic and that's the the science and numbers behind it... and ever real scientist in the country know it, to include Doctor Fuaci.

The real issue is why are the hospitals so under equipped to handle it when the medical industry grossed over 31 Billion last year in the USA? the COVID virus which is part of SARS also like SARS constantly morphs into something else. That is why there has never been a vac for SARS.
By the time they get one out it has morphed into something else which renders that vac ineffective. The same thing is now happening with COVID.
The vac that do have does not work on the new variants, but the government is so locked into what they have they just keep preaching it.
On our dept we are down 4 medics as of today.
One of them is his 4th time he has tested positive. We take precautions above and beyond what the CDC says and hopefully it has helped things from getting worse than they are now.
We are now going to our board to authorize more overtime so we can cover payroll. So many on our department are now working 48 hour shifts. Even one of our board members has tested positive and she is the most careful person I know.
She is always wearing a mask.
I'm not sure if the government will ever admit that they are like a dog chasing its tail with their current approach to eliminating COVID.

Aunt, vaccination is just a prevention not the cure. It only boosts our immunity in such a way that our body can't get affected easily. Doesn't means that it won't get affected at all. It doesn't make our body anti-covid but boosts our energy to deal with it for a long time. Vaccines weaken immune systems to strengthen them first. This normally works very well with inactivated "Cell-Based" Vaccines like the Influenza Vaccine where they help your B-Cells to identify and create Anti-Bodies to fight the Virus. The problem with COVID mRNA "vaccines" (gene therapy, a. k. a "antibody-dependent enhancement".) is that they produce inferior antibodies rather than the normal ones unvaccinated people's B-cells produce, this is what can happen if you are exposed to even a slight variant of the initial virus you were "vaccinated" against. This can be lethal in some cases by way of sepsis in multiple organs because the virus is left unchecked. This was observed in some studies. This is also why gene therapy, a. k. a "antibody-dependent enhancement"(mRNA "Vaccines") were never approved prior to 2020. The animal studies kept showing this lethal effect.

Quite simply, the vax does not stop you getting it. All it does is make it less likely to be hospitalised, and much less likely to die.

The UK has had just short of 220,000 cases in the last 24 hours, and about an average of 100 deaths a day.

Well let's see almost half of the worlds population is vaccinated. Omicron is more infectious. So obviously you're going to see a rise in vaccinated cases, because more people are vaccinated. Still as usual unvaccinated cases are going to be more severe and more likely to require hospitalization.

Here in my country 92% of the eligible population has had 2 or more doses. Out of all the cases in our current outbreak 82% (9,006 people) were not fully immunised. Out of 580 hospitalizations 93% (540 people) were not fully immunised. 18 deaths happened without any underlying condition, only 4 of them were fully immunised.

Because you can't be fully vaccinated against a mutating virus unless they are constantly updating the vaccine to account for those mutations (which is impossible). It's the same reason that the flu shot is usually only 60% effective, at best. The covid vaccine's efficacy is also proven to wane over time, meaning that people who THINK that they are protected really aren't, so a lot of vaccinated people are engaging in higher risk activities and getting sick and then spreading it to others who think that they are protected, and so on.
