The science for this is largely inconclusive because we still don't understand the mechanics of why we need sleep.
The best answers lie in case studies. It is largely accepted that everyone is a little different. Most people should shoot for between 5 to 8 hours of sleep. There are papers written about people who do not sleep and are not difficient in any cognitive functions which most sleep depraved people experience (hallucinations, hearing things, general delirium)
I believe the best answer it to keep track of how tired you are before going to bed, and get out of bed when you wake up. It's OK to sleep in for an hour, but too much longer than that will lead to being tired all day. This is another scientifically recognized phenomenon which is still being studied.

six hours have been enough FOR ME and for most of my life, but I would never recommend this to someone else
if you can afford it, people should aim to sleep those 8 hours most people talk about... other times, you just don't have a chance nor a choice, lol

For me to function properly, 8 hours would be lovely! However, I’ve still coped on 4 ( barely).
I don't think you should reduce your sleeping time, it's not good for you. I think you should try to make friends, if not in real life, at least online.

Most likely you are already sleeping your ideal amount. Don't intentionally mess with it because it can really throw off your internal clock.
How much you "need" is not the same as how much you should ideally have. Many people get by on six hours sleep, but that doesn't mean it's ideal. Let your body decide and don't try to force it. You seriously don't want to mess up your natural clock.
Technically, no. Eight hours minimum. But if you're already an adult and have stopped growing, it won't matter that much. It's not healthy, but you're already slowly dying anyway.

It's fine if works for you. Some people require more sleep than others. You feel both physically and mentally fine after 6 hours that's fine, even though doctors reccomend 8.
Scientifically it's not. I would be tickled shitless to get 6 hours of sleep a day. For the last couple of years it's been 4 hours or less
Nikola Tesla (peace and blessings upon Him) slept two hours a night and rested during the day. I’ve also heard He was a breatharian. If Nikola can do it and live a good long age, why can’t I, for four hours more?
I do believe that no, that's not enough... you need 8 hrs or more to be fresh, relax and awake

6 is ok, but 8hrs is the most recommended. I’ve gone as low as 4hrs and it does take it’s toll on you.
