So yesterday I was coming out of target and while I was at the bus stop I saw some woman who was bending down stumbling about to fall. So I walk over to see if she needed any help. She told me she just got out of radiation because she had stage 4 lung cancer and couldn't keep her balance because was dizzy. I stood there thinking if i should call an ambulance so i asked her if she needed me to call an ambulance/rescue but she said no she didn't need it. So I thought to myself ok and I told her she should sit down so she doesn't fall. I helped walk her to a bus seat in case she started to get dizzy again which she did but I made sure she didn't fall. After she got over the sidewalk and curb and sat down she told me she smoked a cigarette after her radiation treatment and that's why she got dizzy. I stood there bewildered and I told her she shouldn't be smoking with stage 4 lung cancer. Then to make things even dumber and weirder she tells me she's a nurse of all things and I stood there bewildered once again and told her as a nurse you should know not to smoke especially while on radiation and with stage 4 lung cancer and she then tells me she wasn't on any nausea medication which she needed because she was nauseous and I asked her didn't the doctor prescribe you any and she told me she turned it down declined the nausea medicine and I told her if she's that nauseous from the radiation then maybe it might be a good idea to get some from her doctor to alleviate some of the side effects from the radiation treatment.

Dude, what the hell? That whole situation was super messed up.
I can't believe that lady was out smoking with stage 4 lung cancer AND she's a nurse! She should know better than anyone how stupid and dangerous that is. Like, I get being addicted is tough, but come on.
And then turning down medicine for the nausea too? That doctor must have been so frustrated with her. They're just tryna help her get better and she's sabotaging the treatment.
You totally did the right thing trying to help and giving her advice. Even if she didn't want to listen, at least you looked out for her safety when she couldn't stand up.
I probably would've lost my cool trying to talk some sense into her. Smoking especially after radiation just blows my mind. Like does she WANT to die faster? Some people just don't wanna be helped I guess.
Hopefully one day she wises up before it's too late. But you did everything you could man - can't force her to care about her own health if she doesn't wanna! Crazy situation for sure.
My stepmom had chemotherapy for breast cancer. Thankfully, she’s recovering. However, she does have a spot on her lung.
Before being diagnosed, she smoked a lot. As much as I love my stepmom, I honestly hope this was a wake up call for her to slow down on smoking or quit altogether.
I hope the lady you helped will take care of herself better. I’ll be honest I was shocked to read what she said to you.
Unfortunately with stage 4 it's highly unlikely she'll recover from it
You’re not wrong. But, it’s a slim chance she may. However, the way this lady is destroying her body more and not listening to her doctor, she’s furthering herself into an early grave.
As long as it’s not terminal, I think she’ll recover. It’s a long process, yes. But, I hope she does better for herself.
Stage 4 is terminal
I didn’t think it was
may she recover quick
I highly doubt she will. She had stage 4 lung cancer and still continued to smoke even when on radiation
