Workout, Lifting weights with resistance training?

Will I burn fat faster then I build muscle? I don't wanna get close to my weight limit.

I recently am trying to get in shape for the military, I need to keep my weight down and it is as of right now below the required weight limit needed. I know I'm not going to lift a single weight at basic. That much is mad clear. I am special forces though and I want to be in great physical shape. Not just endurance but strength as well. So I figured I should put in some weight training with my push-ups and sit-ups burpees ect... anyway

I was worried though that if I lift weights I'll gain weight because I'm building muscle. I mean I would have to gain some serious muscle, 15 lbs to reach my weight limit, but still I wouldn't wanna take the risk if there is one.

So my question basically is I have a good amount of fat on my body still about 30lbs.

Will I burn the fat faster then I build the muscle? Ex. If I burn 8lbs of fat I would only gain 1lb of muscle if I'm doing lifting and resistance training along with running? I don't wanna gain 6lbs of muscle and burn no fat and suddenly be to close to my required weight limit.
