Should I see a doctor about this mole?

I have a mole on my chest which is about one cm in diameter. The middle of it is a pinky-red color, but the outside is brown. The mole doesn't have a defined circular outline, it's a bit jaggedy. It's not raised or anything, and I can't tell if it's got bigger.

I have a larger mole on my back which is similar but as far as I know has always been there (although has got bigger as I've grown).

I'm quite pale skinned with blond hair, and burn really easily, although do try and stay out of the sun.

Do you think I should go and see a doctor to check it's all healthy and okay, or am I worrying for no reason?

thank you for the advice - I saw a doctor today and she wants to remove it and test it to make sure it's harmless ASAP.

The signs to look for are:

A - Asymmetry (one half of the mole does not match the other)

B - Border (the edges are jagged or poorly defined)

C - Color (the mole is not the same color all over)

D - Diameter (the mole is over 6mm)

E - Elevation (the mole is raised or has an uneven surface)

Yours seems to meet a few of those criteria (B/C/D) - that doesn't necessarily mean that it's cancerous (it's most likely nothing), but it does mean it's worth getting checked out.

Yes, we pale skinned people need to check out any mole that you're noticing. Probably yoou wouldn't be noticing it if it had always been there. If its in a place where it's likely to get rubbed and irritated, the doctor will probably want to take it off even if it's not getting bigger now.

yes you should go see the doctor. its better to be safe than sorry.

See a dermatologist ASAP. Anything that has been there a while and get larger for any reason, needs to be looked at by an MD

I think it's better for a doctor to check it out for your own security

Definitely get it checked out, could be cancerous
