What are some good foods to eat and not be flabby?
I know broccoli and cauliflower bloats you, milk and ice too.. is there anything else I should avoid? or any other advice? :]!
1. Maintain a constant tension in your stomach muscles. Its something you can easily learn and maintain for a lifetime. 2. Crunches are great. That's what bodybuilders use. 3. Leg lifts are great for the lower abdomen so you don't get a paunch. 4. Squats will tighten that tail and give you buns of steel and help with the stomach muscles. 5. Dance the "Twist" or something like it. Its not too old fashioned and I've seen dozens of variations on it. 6. The "Jane Fonda Workout" is the best I've seen. She really means business and a lot of her fellow actors use her routines. 7. Hatha Yoga is good for stretching and proper technique. You can still get Swami Satchadinanda's book at any bookstore cheap. Its America's favorite Yoga Hatha practice.
Finally, there is no shortcut to great abs, obliques and great butt. Consistent exercise making it part of you daily routine along with being active, eating good foods, avoiding snacks and that quart of Haagen Daaz, will help get your weight down. Fact: You will have to trim down to about a 10-14% total body fat count to see the abdominals in bloom.
Everyone needs to set a goal for success in any serious endeavor. Setting them in small steps is the best and the smallest accomplishment can make you feel great about yourself. And, please, don't overdo it.
:] Nice information, thank you! I've been told I'm over doing it, but it's addicting. :D
Basically flattening your tummy is all about fat loss. There is no exercise or workout that will do the job because it's more or less entirely about diet. You could do muscle stimulating exercises as well to build core strength, but the only thing that will lead to is whether or not you have visible muscle definition to go along with that flat tummy when your body fat reaches that low point.
Ah! Thanks for calling me FAT.
haha just kidding! You are right! I need to get the fat out! D:
I'm using an elliptical machine one hour a day after my workout.. Good?
Do you have a heart rate monitor to monitor exactly how many calories you're burning?
Oh! That's what that's for! I don't even know how to use one.. never had one.. I thought eating right and exercise was good? I need to know how much I'm burning? I can roughly calculate I suppose.. Or maybe I should get one...
The elliptical more or less is a cardio/toning device. It's great for overall health purposes but it's important to eat back your exercise calories. Basically, if you burn 200 calories through exercise, eat 200 more. It helps maintain your overall energy levels. That's why the HRM is good, more exact than just estimates.
Oh? I thought I was supposed to burn more calories than I eat to lose the fat? :/
Now I'm confused.
you do but not by too much. Unless you're in the realm of being classified as obesity, a deficit of more than 500 calories a day can lead to other health problems and is very unsafe because the body is more likely to gain it back. Therefore you should keep track of your calorie burn and if you end up burning so much that the deficit after all your meals for the day is greater than 500, eat more!
Oooooooohh! I see.. You're like an expert! :}
Okay, I'm gonna have to buy a heart rate monitor. Thanks!
I'm autistic and researching about fitness is sort of my obsession =P
That's f***ing awesome! I wanna be like you! :]!
Being autistic? Trust me, you don't =P Has its MANY downsides.
:]!
The best exercise that I have found for me anyway has been pilates. I find it does the necessary toning and also gets me sweating, and challenges me without having to buy expensive equipment.
I also combine pilates with biking and walking and a healthy diet of course.
The best foods: try just going for variety.
Try to add lots of veggies and fruits to your diet. These are low calorie and fill you up. Whole grain rice is a good staple to have as a side dish along with veggies. It fills you up without filling you out. You can also try adding beans and legumes to your diet. Beans add lots of fibre and even protein to your diet. These will fill you up as well, so you can feel full on less calories.
Drink water regularly, this also helps make you feel fuller. Cut back on salt, salt will bloat you like crazy. Stay away from processed foods as much as possible. These usually have lots of preservatives, calories and worst of all salt.
Most of it is going to be nailing down your diet.
High fiber food is great- a combination of lower calorie but nutrient dense. The goal is food that isn't really high in calorie but is still going to fill you up. Half a cup of brown rice is going to provide fiber and B vitamins for under 200 calories.
Another good example is comparing snacks. There are these "whole grain" fig newton type bars that are only 120 cals but pack 1g of fiber, which means you will just be hungry in a little bit. Instead, reach for half a sandwich made with high fiber bread, avocado and spinach with a hummus spread. Or if you are sticking with a snack, go for a high protein yogurt. Protein also keeps you fuller.
Making switches- natural instead of pre packaged foods, is going to be key to your success. Also- planning ahead.
Eat right 90% of the time. Choose one meal per week to splurge and call it good.
Thank you! :]

Hydration! drinking lots of water is extremely important. Stay away from high sodium foods. They will cause water retention and bloating. Watermelon is great for weight loss. push ups and planks are a favorite for over all torso toning. Hope I helped :)
Thanks! :]
There are lots of different stomach exercises to do. And it's good to do a nice variety so you hit all of the stomach muscles. I would either try google, or a fitness site like link But like you mentioned, your diet is also very important for a flat stomach. Because you can have nice stomach muscles, but a layer of flab over it. Drinking a lot of water can also help you to lose weight/tone down.
Do burpees, that have a push up component to them, and also invest in an ab wheel.
Oh yea, BodyRock is legit! I'm working my way through some fitness stages so I can start combining her work outs with my running training.
OH! That's awesome, she looks amazing. I think I love her! ha ha I'm not lesbian. Just wow! I think I'll follow her too. :]!
I just did one sets of 12! I'm freakishly tired! it works! :D
Whoops! 2 Sets of 12. :]!
Yea, burpees are great! It's a staple among prisons throughout the US.
Lie on your back on a flat surface and put both legs parallel to a wall...but don't get anywhere next a wall haha..then put one leg down and when you guide it back up bring the alternating side to it in a crunch...they work
those huge bouncy balls are supposed to help with that I think
Which balls?
