it's all about calorie intake. meaning eat a little bit less then what you would in your average day. lower your calories a bit and do some ab exercises.
go on Google and type in BMR CALCULATOR and you will be able to find out how many calories per day you must consume in order to maintain your weight. proceed to lower this number by 500 calories and you will lose weight.
i am in the gym 6 times a week for the past 4 months and trying to gain weight (muscle) to gain weight it's about lifting weights and eating in a calorie surplus. to lose weight, you must eat in a calorie deficit.

It sounds like your main goal is to lose fat. You need to be on a caloric deficit (burn more than what you're taking in).
Try doing two weeks of insanity and do the "Insane Abs" workout more often than they recommend (2-3 times a week should be fine).
The chub on the side are love handles. Those go away as you burn fat. You can't spot reduce (get rid of the love handles specifically) but they do disappear as you begin to burn overall fat.
Don't be disappointed if you can't get rid of the love handles in those 2 weeks; they are typically the last thing to go, along with lower abdominal fat.
Clean up your diet and do the Insanity workout DVD!
If you eat properly and follow the workout schedule, you will definitely be more toned and slimmer by then :)

First of all, put yourself on a planned diet; use Weight Watchers if you need help maikng it interesting and scientifically workable!
Secondly, ease back into working out. Start with aerobics classes, nott hat you can't keep up with them over time. They're great for overall toning and cardiovascular fitness.
You'll feeel better right away, although as you say, you can't lose much more than 10 lbs in the first month.Have a good dietary program, join a gym, jog in the mornings and sleep well.
Though, the effects of those might not be realized in just 3 weeks, it will help you attain your desired body shape and maintain it for a long period of time.I started using Turbo Jam years ago, that's still my regular workout. It helped me lose 150 pounds :-)
try to look for p90X it's so helpful I use it and my friends use it and it's fast with it's food guide.
When I need to drop fat I use a atkin's diet, limit carbs it works! and you can eat lots of fatty foods so you're never starving.
