How to exercise when you're leg is injured. :(

I've boarded the "let's lose weight!" train lol and I've been on a diet and been exercising lately. I recently injured my leg (there's sharp shooting pain at my knee fold/back of my knee, popliteal area) and was advised to let it heal and avoid strenuous activities.

Now, how can I continue with my weight loss journey? I'm not quitting on my diet, so how should I exercise now? Or should I just stick to my diet and let time heal my leg first, so I won't be adding any more trauma to my injury?
