Getting in shape with VoodooChild.
Topic: Losing weight.
With all the delicious food out there and a daily life that requires little physical effort (the hunting days are over as of 2009 people) it’s very easy to get fat.
Nobody likes being fat but few people actually do something about it.
This article describes the best and healthiest way to lose fat and to get in shape.
First off, let’s bust some common myths when it comes to fat loss:
Myth # 1: “I can’t lose the fat; it’s in my genes to be fat”
This is a very lame excuse for not taking action. Look at it like this; if you were to be put in a concentration camp and the only food you’ll get is one small cup off porridge every day, you WILL get skinny no matter what your genes are. Just look at the pictures of some World War Two prisoners in camps if you’re not convinced.
Myth # 2: “I’m not going to eat anything and will go on a starvation diet for a few weeks. That will get me to lose fat”
This is actually true and will make you lose fat but it has too many downsides.
You’re body will go into “starvation mode” and slow down its metabolism so you can survive longer of minimal amounts of food. Once you go back to your normal eating habits you’re metabolism will still be slow and have that “camel mentality” to save up all the food it gets and use it up at a slow pace, in other words, once you stop with your starvation diet and will start eating normally you’ll gain weight faster than ever before. This is what people call a “yo-yo effect.”
Besides that, another negative effect is that you’re body will resort to “chewing off your muscles” to still get energy so you’ll lose muscle mass and get weaker.
The third disadvantage is that you might risk losing so much fat at a fast pace that your skin doesn’t have time to adapt so you’ll get those hanging pieces of skin all over your body and you’ll most likely end up at a plastic surgeon to get all that excess skin removed. Not good.
Myth # 3: “If I eat healthy, I will lose fat”
It’s not what you eat; it’s the amounts of food that you eat.
Haven’t you noticed that bodybuilders gaining weight eat salads and all those healthy stuff?
Don’t be fooled and think that healthy food will make you lose weight. The idea behind eating healthy food is that you eat it in SMALLER proportions INSTEAD of your NORMAL meal just to stay alive.
So now that we have all these common misinterpretation out of our way let’s get to the actual weight loss.
There are many ways people can lose weight, such as getting sick, not eating, high stress and the list goes on. But this article is meant for losing weight in a healthy way!
The first thing you should take in account that in general, it’s unhealthy to lose more than one pound a week, besides, you might have that “skin does not adapt fast enough” problem if you lose fat to fast.

it realls is simple, and FREE...things that promise miracles (fat burners, acai, etc etc etc are a waste of time and most importantly MONEY) just eat well balanced meals, 6x/day, exercise 30-60 min/day, LOTS of water 2-3litres, and bran. rest on sat and sunday, cheat on the 'diet' a little bit, and aimk for 2-3lbs lsot per week. anymore and you wilkl be losing muscle not fat and will re gain everything you lost, trust me
dont just eat less of junk, eat healthy and treat yourself to junk on the weekends. you could be skinny with a tons of cholesterol and die of a heart attack. LOST of veggies, then protien, then carbs
No wonder you aren't loosing weight at the speed you want. Gotta change the lifestyle. Riding bikes it great cardio! So good job there.
I gain weight during the holidays and so far I still have a tight stomch and everything. Here's what you do. Making sure you're eating about every 3 hours. this will kee your metabolism at a good steady level which is what you want. Also you don't have to deprive yourself of sweets or anything. Just make sure your getting your daily value of things. Green veggies, lean meats (ground tuurkey, chicken, fish over beef and pork.). Whole wheat rices and breads over starchy whites. Its not about diet its about lifestyle. If you have to get fast food get things like grilled chicken over a fried or beefy things.
Get a good 30 mins a day of cardio. Going up and down the stairs is waaaaay better than just getting on the treadmill. Because when you do stairs it adds strength training and helps you be tone. And you wanna mke sure that you get some weights in. You don't actually have to own weights. get a couple jugs of water and left them. The key is metabolism. You wanna train your body to burn fat. A combination of eating well with 30 mins of cardio plus weight training a day (or at least every other day) will help you body get to where you want it. You don't have to really count calories but to lose weight you have to burn more than you are consuming. that's why fast food is soo bad. It makes it hard. There's nothing wrong with eating a big sub. But its better if you mke it. Wheat bread, fresh lettuce, cheese, cut up strips of turkey breast, and things along those lines. Anything you buy fast food is 90% more healthy when you are making it yourself with healthy fresh ingrediants. And like I said... do not deprive yourself. If you're hungry then eat. Just try to eat better. And here is nothing wrong with eating the chocolate cake or pumpkin pie your grandma made this holiday. Just try to get a little extra cardio in. And don't worry to much about the number on the scale because muscle weighs more than fat.
I'm also dieting :) There are a lot of things you can do, but there is no legitimate fast way to lose weight. Make sure to vary your exercise routine. Biking is good...but be sure to change it up, or your body will get used to doing the same thing. Just be patient, and make sure you're eating enough: at least 1200, but that depends on your weight. You can definitely still lose weight just as well eating more than 1200 calories a day.
Drink as much water as you can. Fruits are good, but they also have a lot of sugar, so keep that in mind if you want to snack on other sugary foods too. Be sure to have something to eat at least once every four hours to keep up your metabolism. Breakfast is a must, because it starts your body up. High-fiber foods are very helpful.
Since you've been dieting for a while you probably don't need to be told this, but don't skip meals or eat less than 1200 calories. It makes you very weak and you'll end up burning more muscle than fat.
Diet pills might help some people, but I wouldn't recommend them.

diet pills are not the answer...they're diuretics. they will make you loose the water weight, but in reality if your intake of fluids (water, juice...not alcoholic bev's.) don't equal you your ouput that is BAD! Drink plenty of water..1/2 your body weight equals the amount of water you should drink. Diuretics only decrease your BP, and aren't allowing your body to absorb its proper nutrients that it needs from the good foods your eating. Congrats on the 20#! that's great! My suggestion would be to increase your cardio( not fatburn...you burn more calories doing cardio...trust me!) by probably 20 min. then do weight intervals of 10-12 reps alternating legs/arms each day. also...an extra thing...try Yoga or Pilates...it will lengthen your muscles making you leaner. I've upped my cardio and have been doing yoga...it will refocus and relax you...plus it makes you look leaner. Ok..one more tidbit is after your working out eat more protein (whether it's a shake or chicken...whatever...) its because your metabolism is faster after you work out so it will use the protein as reserve after you've consumed the proper amount of carbs...then the protein works and fills you up.
Summary:
Cardio at least 25-30 min three x a week.
Keep on the healthy foods that your eating
Muscle conditioning...muscle weighs more than fat!
Limit alcoholic bev's- no more than 2 drinks a night...max. my new fav is grey goose vodka with club soda and lime...taste good and low cal.(which is good...alcohol is empty cal's...lol. sad but true)
Don't do diuretics...they mess up your fluid and electrolyte balance. your body has a special make-up...and diuretics in the end only mess it up and you could end up passing out and going to the hospital and having to be on IV's for a day or so...NOT worth it for 2 lbs. lol. seriously.(I.E.-diuretics lower you Blood pressure...so you you could develop orthostatic hypotension..where your light-headed and dizzy whenever you stand up and move to quickly...not a plus.)
Visit weightwatchers.com...they have an online program...and it works...i lost 15 lbs doing it. it teaches sensible eating and realizing fad diets are not the answer.
or just eat healthy, exercise at least 2-3 times a week at the min. and the results will show w/in a few weeks...just remember its a long term goal..not an overnight one and if you work hard it will show. Best of luck! :)Diet pills can be dangerous. In order to raise your metabolism you should be eating 5 to 6 times a day. Stay away for watery fruits, salt, use less dairy, and read the labels. Labels may say fat free, but are full of sodium which makes your body retain water. Your 3 meals and 2 snacks should be 3-4 hours apart and here is an example
breakfast
1/2 cup cooked oatmeal
2 egg whites
mid-morning snack
2 oz chicken breast
1 cup of veg
lunch
2 oz low sodium tuna
1/2 a medium baked potato
1 cup of veg
mid afternoon snack
1 slice cantaloupe
2 oz chicken breast
dinner
2 oz tilpa fillet
1/2 cup cooked rice
1 cup veg
It doesn't have to be just like that but you must balance each meal and snack with the correct amount of protein, carb, and veg. Proteins fresh fish(except salmon), chicken or turkey breast, only 2 times a week red meats. Nothing breaded or fried. Least amount of sugar and fat possible, no salt. (I use Mrs dash) My parents lost 250 pounds between them and I have lost 30 pounds in one month. Good luck.People always say "eat healthy" but I know it's not that easy. When I wanted to lose weight I read this magazine that changed my life. Unfortunately I can't remember what magazine it was but I know what it said. This is sort of what it said in the article:
You know that huge bowl of cereal you have in the morning? Or that three scoop ice cream cone you get everyday? You may think it's okay, but you will be just as full with a smaller bowl or a two scoop cone. See, your body is full, but you can't realize it when you're eating. Start with smaller portions and to help, buy smaller bowls so you CAN'T put that much cereal in it. And when you eat dinner, wait 20 minutes before eating dessert. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to register as "full", so you may not even feel up to eating dessert! And eat meals slower so the body can digest and break down food while you eat. Gaining weight can be caused by lack of the body breaking down food.
I hope this helps =D Good luck.
PS- take the stairs instead of the elevator and use your bike instead of the car.The last part of the program is your diet.
Eat 5-6 healthy meals a day (smaller portions then you usually eat) to keep your metabolism working at a fast pace. Similar to the earlier “Camel” example that I gave, your metabolism can also become “a big spender” if it gets fed regularly. So by eating every 2-3 hours your body is constantly burning fat and gets used to getting rid of food very fast (turning it into energy actually).
Examples of small meals are: Fruit, yoghurt, meal replacements like slim fast (that you eat INSTEAD of a meal, not WITH a meal because they are packed with calories) or small portions of whatever you usually eat.
If you keep yourself to this, you’ll be on your way to fat loss in no time!
Be aware though, avoid losing more than one pound a week since it’s not healthy to lose weight so fast!
So what are you waiting for? Start sweating!
VoodooChild.Diet pills= silly idea. Unless you want to take them for the rest of your life (which, I would not recommend), you have to do it the old fashioned way. Pills usually have side effects, and trainers and health books urge you to stay away from them. Keep your caloric intake at 1200 calories a day. Never less than 1000. An hour of HARD cardio- running, cycling, Zumba, or other cardio/dance classes. Stay hydrated. Also, drink water anytime you have the "munchies"- sometimes we're really only thirsty. Break your food intake into "mini-meals", and don't eat late at night- that's always a black hole for calories. (I have that problem)
Also, sometimes if you plateau (which you may have after 20 lbs), you have to decide whether you want to give up some of the unhealthy foods you eat,or lose more weight. Nobody said it was easy, but it'll be worth it in the end.
Try getting some dance videos- there's a TON of fun options on Amazon.com
Best of luck! Those diet pills are the lazy person's way.
Dude just keep exercising (change it up every 3-4 weeks so you won't plateau) and eat lean meats like chicken breast and turkey breast, some fruits, a lot of GREEN veggies, whole grain starches like whole wheat bread, brown rice...etc.
Limit dairy.
The more you exercise the more you supposed to eat.
Average chick is 1550 calories but if you burn 300 calories in exercise a specific day then eat an additional 200 to that. If you burn 600 eat 500...like that.please don't do diet pills, but if you are going to do anything take some vitamins:women's one a day is a great vitamin.congrats on the 20lbs! I'd say you should just increase your workouts and add several different excercises. people have all these diets, and you try them and none of them works. and you know why? because everybody's body is not the same, you know your body more than anyone, so you know what to do.looks to me you just need to do a little more and it is a great possibility that you will lose weight at a faster pace. but the key is patience, determination, and motivation. also, try cooking your food in a healthier way. the way you cook your food also plays a role in weight-loss. I hoped I helped! :)
Eating less is not what you should be doing. Eating RIGHT is what you should be doing. Also exercise is good but you should be eating a lot more proteins and drinking tons of water when you do it. This helps the muscles out after a work out. makes you less sore and helps tone you up a little bit.
First of all, what you want to lose is fat, not weight. Restricting your caloric intake too much can actually slow your metabolism down and cause you body to store fat because it thinks it is starving. Be carefull. Simple plan. SWEAT for an hour a day. Regulate your meals to be balanced with slow burning carbs (no sugar, white bread, instant rice, cake, etc) and keep your protein intake high to prevent muscle loss. Your body will canabolize muscle tissue in times of need.
wow Voodoo really gave a great answer. just wanted to add that drinking a lot of water speeds up your metabolism and helps weight loss. try to get to a regimen and stick to it. I wouldn't use the diet pills if I were you. it's always better to do things like this naturally. once you lose the weight you will have THAT much more satisfaction. and props to you on changing for the better
don't use diet pills most of those sites, if not all of them, are scams. you should actually eat more - snacking on healthy foods is the key to weight loss. you're never suppose to feel hungry. apples, nuts, baked lays, yogurt and jello... whatever healthy snack you can get your hands on between meals will work wonders for your waist line. it's helping me! 30 pounds down and a some more to go, but I'm confident in my progress :)
One effective way to lose weight is to sleep less. My job requires me to get up at 4am, since I usually sleep around 12 its just a short sleep...after a few days I look so much skinnier I have to hit the gym asap. You can always get the hours back during the day...btw 80% of women are fine as they are, real talk
-sighs- eat healthier but the same amount (unless you eat a lot then you have to eat a little less) and exercise more (if you don't exercise much)
Have you ever seen "Requiem for a Dream"? That should help you make up your mind about diet pills.
have one day when you can eat unhealthy foods every week, it will help your metablism.
also, eat lots of celery bcause it takes more energy to digest then it gives u.Having sex is the best exercise.
