Yes. Jump roping is amazing. You can do it inside, and you don't need much room to do it!
I like jump roping because you can do it in front of your television! That makes you work out more, and its fun. :)

And, yeah, I guess you could jump up and down. But that's boring. And its not as good as with a rope, because you get in a cycle with jumping rope. You need to be timed, or you'll step on the rope!

This is the equation to loose weight: Eat at a calorie deficit, and do cardio (like jump roping) everyday. Google a "calorie to maintain weight freedieting" calculator, and it should tell you what deficit to eat at to loose eight. You can definitely loose at least 10lbs in a month in a healthy way.
