How do you feel about someone online asking for your address to send you a gift?

I've been having conversations with people who mention either being on the receiving or giving end of this. I'm wondering how you feel about it.

This is not about someone you have met in person, video chatted with and are in a committed relationship with, or have together spoken about a plan to marry.

I'm interested in how you feel being asked for your address, supposedly to send you a gift that you didn't ask for.
  • If you have been asked, how did it make you feel? Do you wish they hadn't asked? Wish you hadn't given it? How did it all turn out?
  • If you have sent gifts, why? What were the circumstances?
It's not about your experience being asked for gifts, nor asking for gifts.
And I'm not referring to money, cash, gift or credit cards to be redeemed. We know that happens (too much) and it's the guys who are being asked (but just because a pink is asking, don't presume it really is a female. There are entire organized underground crime rings, full of guys who do this to scam people.) But that's a different topic and I don't want to talk about that. Too gloomy. I'm at my limit these days with that kind of talk.

Sorry these multiple choice are so varied. It was difficult to fit in all the possible options and scenarios.

I'm giving you the anon option on this one. Speak freely.

A gift? Sounds nice. I would probably accept.
My address? Hmmm. That makes me nervous. I might possibly accept. It would depend on the person offering, and how long or how well I've known them.
No way. This would freak me out. I don't want anyone even offering. No person on the internet, sight unseen, will get my address.
I have been asked for my address. I said no. I wish they hadn't. It made me really uncomfortable.
I have been asked for my address. I said yes. I'm glad I did. They sent a thoughtful gift.
I have asked for an address and sent a gift (s). Or I could see myself asking for an address, or might send gifts in the future.
I'm looking for cash to pay my bills. I'll take any free shit, even if I have to sell it to make rent or buy a new handbag.

A lot of people mentioning a P. O. box which would be ideal. But most people don't have them, right? It's a lot of trouble to go to, to rent one just for this one time situation. (I used to work for a business that rented them and we never allowed random packages. You had to have a lease.)
I know of people who have had gifts sent to them, but felt uncomfortable with it and regretted it.
The most recent person is a legit situation, just a nice guy who wants to send a bday gift to a girl he likes.
