she was being racist by wearing locks also but like, c'mon. locks are like a very important thing in some cultures you can't go trashing them like that out of nowhere thats fucked up and disrespectful
I'm not really talking about people who wear them for cultural reasons, I'm talkingtalking about how they look as a fashion statement. How was she racist for wearing them?
Seriously PC police get off my back cuz I really don't give a fuck. I'm not racist and don't need to prove it or tiptoe around every kinda sensitivity
most people I know from those cultures that they come from don't want white people wearing them, thats all I know, so. Thats like, out of line, n disrespectful. So it was disrespectful of her.
anyway woah!!! chill out. It's alright. We can talk about this, and it doesn't have to be, like. conflict. It's okay. I'm not any kind of police. I'm just saying, this is a cultural thing thats important to a lot of people, you should maybe think twice before saying nasty things about it. Thats not tiptoeing or nothing I'm not asking you to tiptoe. I'm just saying.
You didn't just say that.. you called me racist. That's a really loaded term so obviously I'm going to react.
If someone told me.. I'm wearing these cuz its apart of my culture I'd be llike.. cool I get that. But I personally think its an unattractive style. Its just my opinion of it. And its not a knockknock against any race
I didn't call you racist! I called your question racist... I'm sorry if I was aggressive about it. I just mean, it is a racially charged thing to say, at least. And you gotta acknowledge that.
Anyway: the idea being, I think, though, that talking about locs being unattractive is kinda... a Thing. Like, people from those cultures, you know. They suffer. They're losing jobs for their locs, I've known this to happen. They're being turned down because they're doing their own culture! And you are saying... I think locs are unattractive. Alright, thats fine. But... That's still part of it. Those cultures are still being held in low regard. Black people are held in low regard, generally. And thats racism. And you're doing that... So, you're saying its not a knock against any race, but... it kinda is, though. You know?
The funny thing is I wasn't even associating it with race. I was actually more thinking of them on white people cuz the girl was white.
But like... there's also cultures that say men can't cut their beards... would it be racist to say "am I the only girl who finds beards unattractive" JUST because some peoples culture requires them? Like I personally don't like beards.. its not racist.
I do understand your points. No one should be discriminated against.. but well I'm not an employer. My opinion is just my opinion. Doesn't change the way I look at someone just cuz I don't get their hairstyle.
mmm, yeah well. White people's so-called dreads tend to be fucked up, lol. They dont know how to them and our hair isn't meant for it anyway. It gets moldy. We used to do a similar thing in old Ireland, my ancestors, but very different. We did it with limestone and weird shit lol. But thats lost to time.
Still, though. It says something that you are associating locs with white people, and not with the cultures it belongs to, huh... But yeah I understand you weren't trying to be racist or nothing.
As for beards, eh... Thats not even so ridiculous in my opinion. I mean, I think about. Lots of girls say they hate guys with long hair. I feel like even thats kinda racist honestly. Eurocentric, at least. Why is long hair on guys considered unattractive so widely? And whys it associated so much with native American men, etc, hm... that kinda thing...
but, its up to you. I am always trying to think of this stuff and think it is most virtuous to do so. But you dont need to I guess...

Honestly, I'm not fond of the look.

Racist of you to say that cuz race is irrelevant. The girl I saw was WHITE.

Yeah I don`t see the question as racist.

@Red_Dragon alright. I will defer to your judgment, & will stop talking about this to her.

Ohhh. No you made a good point. It is very important for some cultures. I see what you`re saying. I mean both of you make good points.
@Red_Dragon okay, well. If you're comfortable with me continuing, I'll respond to her recent reply to me?
Yeah do what you want. I`m just reading LOL.
And I do agree that it`s very very vital for some cultures. I could see how someone from such culture would feel disrespected.
At the same time there are some people in America at least who only do it for fashion. Though even that you can consider culture in some regard.
All in all you`re right. One should be careful with what they say about dreadlocks, because it can be seen as culturally disrespectful.
I`m just going to read y`all`s replies to each other though LOL.
@Red_Dragon LOL okay :3 yeah, I agree.
