Have you ever called 911?

I called for the first time ever the other day
I walk walking home at night from a friends house and I heard a woman screaming for help and screaming for an ambulance.

I stopped and hesitated because part of me wanted to go and see what was happening, but then I thought “what if this is a set up? What if I go over there and I get robbed or get hurt by the same person who hurt her? ”
my second thought was also “what if it’s a skin Walker” LMAOOOO

I ran the other direction and called 911 when I got home. I feel kinda guilty, what if that extra 5 minutes I took to call was the difference between her life and death? But I also didn’t want to get hurt trying to be a hero

I have called 911 3 times.

• First time my car broke down in morning rush hour traffic. I was in a very high traffic area and I apologized for dialing 911 but the dispatcher told me that was what they were there for. They got an officer out behind my car to light me up for better visibility.
• 2017, I was hit from behind on the interstate. The person who hit me was driving over 70mph and never hit the breaks. I did not need medical assistance but it was a hit and run.
• 2020, I called for my 70 y/o MIL because she was sick and was short of breath. Did not know if she had COVID but has a crap load of medical issues.

I did the same thing for a homeless person... they were crying for help across the street from were I was walking. But it was dark and a sketchy part of town.

I kept moving but did call 911, and by the time I got down the street a police cruiser came up to the person, and cop started talking to them through the passenger window and person stood up and started answering back... then all of the sudden the person took off running and cop turned on their sirens and went around the corner after them. I never knew how it turned out or what happened or why... but I was thankful for my well earned street smarts.

No shame or guilt about it brother, you did the right thing.

The very first, time I called 911 I was probably around 8 years old and I was a stupid kid just curious if it was real. I hung up when they answered and uniform showed up at my front door with the next 5 to 10 minutes. My mother was pissed!!! :)

But those where the only two times I ever did it.

Yes a few times. Once when someone I didn't know was walking around my house and in the backyard. He was being shady and weird so I didn't want to go up to him myself. The 2nd to 5th times were because my mom's ex boyfriend was drunk and yelling. It took everything I had not to beat the snot out of him. But he wasn't worth me going to jail. And then the last time was because I got a text from my dad that read "text me back 911". So I called 911 and told them his address. He called me and asked why I did that. The answer is obvious but he said that means to text him as soon as possible/asap. I told him it has never meant that and not to do it to anyone.

I’ve called for an ambulance for myself a few times, when I’ve been unable to walk or move to get myself to hospital.


I’ve called police once for a man who was holding a woman down and beating her while she cried. I told him I’d called the police and that he should stop so he stood up and shouted abuse at me, while the woman ran away. The police arrived and the man was alone and he lied to the police, so police let him go with no charge. I felt really bad for the woman.

SEVERAL times. I used to be the manager of a museum for kids with like a 1000 visitors a day, so all kinds of crap happened all the time. I called for several seizures including an employee and a newborn baby (this one was actually terrifying), a dude that wasn't supposed to be walking after surgery that burst his surgical scar (blood everywhere), heatstroke, girl who split her head open jumping off the outdoor equipment, kid who was violently throwing up, employee shocked touching socket that was being worked on before hours, kid going into anaphylactic shock, baby locked in car, exploding car fire in the parking lot, man with gun, and child that went missing (turned out she'd snuck behind an exhibit and fallen asleep). The ironic thing was we never had to call for anyone going into labor. Also in a previous job in college, my manager was complaining of heart palpitations, so had to call for that.

I did once, a car was on fire and EXPLODED, I still have it on tape, yes VHS. Luckily no one was hurt, other than the car lol

Also another story... I was at a bar with my roommate, and I saw a dude walk in who just gave me real bad vibes, I immediately said "we have to leave" and we did, within seconds of leaving a massive brawl broke out. The front window was broken by a man flying through it, chairs thrown, even a dude beat the fuck out of a woman... wow. I don't know why, but it happened. I called the cops immediately and they showed up within minutes

I’ve called 999 here in the UK a few times.

things such as finding a suicide or someone badly injured

Invariably it be for an ambulance and not police.

But to date called 999 for
Mountain Rescue, fire brigade, ambulance and police.

some have been where I have been the person in command and it’s been reported to me.

others cos you happen to be first there and witness a crash on road etc.

I had a stalker threaten me years ago and I called the police but my dad did not want to face the embarrassment of having police cars drive to our home in front of the neighbours so he told them I was mentally I’ll and lying and nobody was stalking me.

Yes, the dog of my neighbors annoyed me few times while barking entire night, because those assholes went to holidays and someone left the dog in garden over the night.
It's not allowed between 22:00 and 6:00 to leave dogs outside.
Fortunately other neighbors called police as well so I wasn't alone the evil bitch

I called 911 when the former tenant fell asleep with hamburgers on the stove and another thing he used water to put the fire out wow but the fire department and police came ASAP and the fire was put out, I was taking my medications and clothes outside cause I need them if the whole place was going to go up in fire

I have a few times. Once was someone breaking into my home. I beat the crap out of him then called 911. Another time was someone trapped in a burning car. I could not get them out on my own but I was able to contain the fire until help arrived. The other times was while driving. DUI is a HUGE problem in Tennessee and I've almost been ran off the road several times by drunks. EVERY time I've called 911 on someone I suspected of driving drunk resulted in that person's arrest.

I actually called the other day because I saw this wooden crate that was on fire by a gas station. It looked like the work of an arsonist, so I called the cops. The suspected arsonist was just standing there, watching the box burn.

U made the call thats all u needed to do then police and ems can check it out never put yourself in harms way lol if you didn't call and someone did happen then you should feel guilty but you called so your good.

Also i have called the police for break ins and other stuff so its documented that way if it happens again and were face to face 2A all day and i'll win that case

I’m glad you called. It was a scary for you, don’t be hard on yourself. Yes, I’ve had to call countless times for medical, witnessed accidents, protection for myself as well as others. Many things.

In the UK we have to call 999, which I've done for all three of the emergency services. Best: Fire service, they will come out even if you just burned the toast.
Worst: Police, couldn't give a damn.

No. But one 4th our back yard caught on fire. So mu cousin was told to call 911. She came out with 5 phones, and with a straight face asje what the number was! Sorry had to share that. 🤣🤣🤣

Yes, a few dozen times. Largely to have trespassers removed from the property or to address medical issues at work, and to deal with my former roommate. It's to the point I know a few of them by name.

Not 911 but i have called the number of the region for the same purpose that 911 serves. In england its 999.

Yes a car behind me got T-Boned and I called EVERYONE the police fire and medical got the man out of the car and stayed to help file a report
