For me, it helps create chemistry and deepen the connection with a guy I'm involved with. It's like we have a little language of our own, which makes me feel emotionally connected. When a guy uses pet names, I usually come up with some pet names for him in turn. I was recently discussing this with one such guy and remarked that it is important. He responded that it is "VERY important." Also, interestingly, my ex-husband and I had tons of such pet names (to an extreme, actually) and I remember about the time he stopped using them. We eventually grew apart and got divorced. Guess that was a sign of things to come! Anyway, I guess the use or non-use of them is a good thing to have in common, one way or another.
I am the same way too! I am not the type that really likes to be called "baby" or Beautiful" don't even get me started on "baby girl". The only pet name I am totally cool with is "honey", I always found it sweet when a guy or girl calls their significant other, honey. Whenever I have a boyfriend, I call them by their first name most of the time. I also find it sexy when a guy or boyfriend calls me by my full first name "Tessa-Rae" gets me every time.

Terms of endearment, I suppose. Calling you beautiful sends a message that I want you to know/believe, that I find you absolutely irresistible. In my experience, my girlfriends have used pet names more than me. (Pookie, handsome, etc.)
For the same reason women do, I suppose. It makes them feel good. My friend's girlfriend once called him babylooms. Everyone thought that was over the top.

I use a few pet names with my girlfriend because in a way it adds to the sense that she is mine and not any other guys. Like its stating my 'claim' on her.Giving her a pet name is something special that only I call her, and no one else.
Why?
Because its too hard to keep all the different girls names straight..
If you call them all baby-girl.. no wrong name drama...
They do it because it's cute and it's like saying you're his. You might not like it but a lot a women do.

well other guys use a single pet name for their girlfriends encase of a wrong sent messages and pretty useful during sex.
I never did. It was actually more after joining GaG I learned some women really love it.
It's not a bad thing my fiance call me his peaches so it doesn't bother me at all.
He is doing this so he does not call u by another women's name by mistake as it's Far simpler to remember pet names than real names and if u call her babe Huni what ever it means ur less likely to tell out during sex say another women's name
I would say it's a form of endearment. It sounds much more endearing saying.. " let's watch this, babe" rather than "let's watch this, (name)".
