Is faithfulness really just a lack of opportunity?

Really though, do you think if you or your partner were put in a position where the other wouldn't find out, would you/they cheat? If you have that mindset, how can you have a successful healthy relationship?

I tried the polyamorous lifestyle once. But that included an open line of communication where we'd tell each other if/when we were hooking up with someone else. This best works out when sex is viewed as a physical act and can be separated from love/emotion. Even then, it's difficult. There will always be a small amount of jealousy.

Otherwise, if the person I'm dating wants to be monogamous, I'll tend to not even notice other guys. If I do, I'll know it's time for me to move on. Cheating and sneaking around is lying, and I never want to be caught in a lie with someone I really care about.

No. I think faithfulness is respect for your partner, yourself and the relationship that you have together. I have no doubts that my boyfriend would say no if he had the opportunity to cheat on me and have me not find out. I do believe he can say the same about me. Because we are both feeling secure and fulfilled in our relationship, it's a non-issue.

With opportunities sometimes flying at me with furious speeds lol I still haven't cheated. I'd like to stay faithful. If opportunity was all people needed to cheat, trust me. I wouldn't waste my time being in a relationship with anyone ^^ There is no way to have a healthy relationship with that mindset.

No I don't think so. If you really like someone you would never cheat. They are your only one.

If the relationship is exclusive, then there's no reason not to be faithful unless you don't like. Otherwise, someone is playing games I guess.

I was a, slut/man whore or whatever you want to call it in my 20's and early 30's my wife found p*rn with me in it! But I've had opportunities since we got back together, and have turned them down. I've just outgrown all of that. Maybe I am just getting old, but I'm just not interested any more.

Loyalty for men means turning down other opportunities when they arise.

It plays a huge role. People will try to tell you otherwise, but there's a reason people were more faithful 100 years ago than they are today.
