My boyfriend doesn't believe in giving back or charity?

Every year I like to make a few donations to organizations that are near and dear to my heart. I don't give a lot of money or anything crazy. But it seems to bother my boyfriend so much every time I make a donation.

I don't get what his deal is. I would say I donate about 200 a year, not including clothes/household items when I do spring cleaning. He seems to think it's such a big waste of money. But 200 a year really isn't that much if you think about it right?

The organizations I give to are legit and most of the donations do go directly to help. A very very small percentage is help for staff/admin purposes so it's not like I'm throwing money at anyone that asks.

anyways, what do you guys think? This bothers me because I want to give back and I want to make this a regular part of my life. As I make more, I want to give back more as well.

However i will say that when I do volunteer work and give my time, my boyfriend is extremely supportive of that and he even comes with me to help out. He just doesn't like giving money away.

I'm glad you're donating to people who need it, so am I.

Try to explain to him that you're donation to organizations that are legitimate and not something who claim to help, but do not. Explain him that there are a lot of people who need help in many ways, clothes, clean water, food. There's still so many kids who are hungry and do not have access to clean water.

It's your own money, spend it as you want.

Your not married, it's your money, your bills are paid right? If so, tell him "karma is a bitch" and boot him out.
I give on a regular basis, sometimes it's a lot sometimes is pocket change, but it has paid off, maybe boot as much add I have put in, but still.
