Have you ever misjudged someone based on your first impression?

Question

Sometimes when we meet someone they may be having a bad day or may remind you of someone else who hurt you in the past. What happens when you learn they are better than the initial impression and how do you feel once they change your opinion?

Also what goes into making a good first impression for you specifically? Do you notice their manners, their hygiene, their style?

Yes I have, but then I realize my assumption of them was wrong I just kinda delete that thought. And think of them the way I know them now.

But most times when I meet people I don’t really over analyzing them. I just notice their style and manner/attitude and the way they carry themselves.

I get impressed by people easily and by their behavior, character, manners and everything. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt even when I get first bad impression about them and I don’t just judge before meeting them twice at least. :/

Yes hi. That is i. I get "misjudged" like that all the time. Resting b! tch face is real. And dressing in hoodies and sweats doesn't make that look better. And in case you're wondering, no, being shy and introverted does not help. Friends who have known me for a while hit me with "at first, i thought you were a real b! tch/ mean/ agressive", "i thought you hated me", "i never thought we would be friends"🙃

I go to a casino for lunch and the new waitress is as nice as can be. I've seen her several times and I can't imagine a nicer person. One time I went there and she was a customer with her husband. She was cussing him out. Rude to the waitress. So now I have a different opinion of her. Regardless if a person is having a bad day, that doesn't give them an excuse to treat other people like crap.

I tend to trust people and assume they mean well until they give me a reason to believe otherwise. Therefore I can’t remember starting with a bad impression of someone. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. :)

It takes more than first impression to get to know someone. However, first impressions do last. I've made friends in funny situations. I do believe in showing up as your best always. I do notice everything. There's a difference between someone who shows up nervous a bit tattered being filled with anxiety (which is okay, I would help that person feel comfortable) other than someone who is arrogant and rude to everyone there. Pick your pick.

I have misjudged someone due to the way they seemed to acted towards everyone but she stood up for me once when a girl called me fat snd ugly so I don't know maybe she truly is a nice person and cares or maybe it’s because she knows that I haven’t ever been mean to anyone and I stay to myself often

A good impression is definitely appearance, mannerism, morals, etc. You can get a good impression of someone within the first 3 seconds I heard a study. Also, anyone who looks giddy or overly happy, I think they're deranged.

I probably have before but the first impression can be pretty telling sometimes. It’s not usual a night and day difference when you get to know them (maybe more often with partners)

I'm generally a good judge of men, but when I make a mistake, I'm more than happy to own up and enjoy the company. After all, I started thinking WORSE of what they really were, so that's a good thing.
