If it's recent, he may have just kind of run out of stuff to talk about and needs time to have more experiences in order to have things to talk about. Or maybe he really has lost interest and something else has got his attention, like a video game or whatever it is kids are doing now.
Just relax. You've got other stuff in your life, too. It's perfectly alright if you aren't in constant communication. When he feels like talking, he'll talk. And if he doesn't, that's ok too.

I'd say don't be putting in more effort than he is. If he doesn't text or doesn't seem interested in conversations, you shouldn't either. Don't waste your energy on people who don't deserve/want it.
Why, just stop talking to him. If he is not interested, he will not seek contact, if he is, he will. Why push things. Seems for now he is not interestd, sorry for that, you can find someone else
