This is what you do: Sit down, create a vision for the type of relationship you want in general. Don't limit it, thinking of him. This includes not just the man's personality but also the things you do together, where you guys live, the jobs you have or don't have, earning, kids or not kids, etc.
Next, have him sit down and do the same. Now we conclude your visions would be somewhat similar considering you two are dating happily.
At any rate, sit down together and go over each others visions and then construct a joint vision. You see the problem right now is you boyfriend isn't striving for your relationship vision because you guys have not clearly defined it on paper. For if he was he would be developing the habit of cuddling and holding you more. You both would be working on solutions outwardly but also inwardly.
Once the joint vision is constructed you both start working toward that vision in a state of harmony. The most important part of the vision is your personality. The ability to remain in harmony naturally is the aim. For ex. if you break a plate and you start complaining about it, your boyfriend should not come in the kitchen and tell you to calm down and get over it because it was just one cheap plate. Those things may be true but by saying that you two a on opposite sides. You must remain in harmony habitually. That includes romantic harmony too. You must also remain in harmony with your vision. That means the progressive realization of that vision is happening and not the opposite. Become, habitually, the two people who can naturally stay in harmony with one another.
Lastly, have an organized meeting every week.
