Title sounds terrible but unfortunately I don't know how else to word it. My husband was gifted a dog two years ago that I didn't want. I told him I didn't want the dog but he kept the dog anyways because he didn't want to upset his mother. The dog has a range of medical issues and due to this, she can't get fixed. She goes in to heat more often than usual due to her medical issues. So it's like once every 2-3 months that she is in heat.
Now the big issue is that my husband won't keep doggy diapers on her despite my protests because she whines while she has them on. So this dog just free bleeds all over the house for 3-4 weeks at a time. Whenever you step away from her for any period of time she is right up on the furniture and bleeding all over everything. We do not have washer dryer hookups here and have to travel to wash anything because the nearest laundromat is almost 45 minutes away. The dog isn't allowed on the furniture as is (she has her own furniture) but whenever she is bleeding I swear she is drawn to our bed and couch. You can't turn your back for 3 seconds without her getting up there.. My husband makes every excuse known to man trying to justify the behavior. Such as: "Well she's probably uncomfortable and has cramps so she wants to be comfy and our furniture is more comfy than hers is." I'm tired of sitting on/laying in/cleaning up blood.
The tip of iceberg was this morning I found her in the brand new baby bassinet (I'm pregnant- due in 2 months). There was blood all through it. I don't even know how she got in there. So I was pissed and told my husband he needed to do something and he said there wasn't anything he could do. So I told him to leave with his animal until she was done bleeding and since he didn't want to do anything (ex: doggy diapers) he could leave every time she goes in to heat from now on because I can't do this anymore. He says I'm being ridiculous and punishing him and the dog but he doesn't help come up with solutions.
