What does it mean when someone says “you can text me anytime”?

Basically I had to apologize to someone and stated sorry for bothering them and telling them I know they wouldn’t want to hear from me. They accepted the apology and said they don’t mind hearing from me and I can text them anytime. Why would someone say this: to be nice or something else.

I have this philosophy that I have an obligation to be nice to certain people.

this includes people from church, people from work, and people who are friends with people I'm friends with.

So that might be something I would say to them, if we are on a friendly basis with each other.

It all depends on what kind of a relationship expression you both left each other when you both exchange phone numbers. It's more being a friendship only and being nice, and having another friend. It's nice to have friends, and to know that if you can text them at anytime that's cool, but don't over text though as that will indicate as a desperation and it will be annoying and no texting in the middle of the night. That they don't stress out because the phone beep. They will answer when they have time and want to. So no risk sending a text their way.

Why did you say you know they wouldn't want to hear from you? Did they ask you to give them space? If not, i wouldn't see it as anything more than what it says. Id think theyre just being nice because you said something negative.
