Why does this couple behave like this towards me?

I think they are both around 47-48. I’m 27 nearly 28. I know them from my work and therefore know him through her. They are both lovely people just curious why they act like this towards me. He always wants to make sure I get home safe and told me to wrap up warm one time she is extremely tactile towards me and calls me pet names. Nothing inappropriate in the slightest. Just curious why they act like this. Is this normal for someone their age and mine?

They may see you as a younger colleague and want to look out for you in a friendly, paternal/maternal way. It's also possible that they simply enjoy your company and want to make you feel comfortable and appreciated. As long as their behavior is not making you uncomfortable or crossing any boundaries, it is likely just a friendly dynamic between colleagues of different ages.
