If you ask her if she wants to go to the gym with you, or workout with you, you shouldn't question whathever yes/no she gives you.
Just tell her she needs to lose weight if you’re gonna keep dating her. If she starts crying just tell her you just want her to be healthy or just make something up like how you just care too much about her wellness.
It is not bad per se, it is all how you approach the subject.
Is it a bad thing no but let's be honest most women will hear your a fat ass even though the guy never said anything close to that. can always have the best intentions but people will hear what that want to hear regardless. weight in my experience it's a touchy subject with women
