What is something that amazes you about humans?

Every day when I get to work, I see hundreds of dancing elderly people from the window of my office.

Little Chinese grandmothers dancing every morning together, kind of celebrating yet another morning, taking care of their health,

I am amazed by their energy and love of life through the dance. I am also impressed by their boldness to go out and dance in front of
tons of people, meanwhile us, young people, sometimes even feel lazy to get up early in the morning.

Everything, that made life better.

Modern medicine and surgeries.

Technology such as computers, internet, AC units, refrigerators.

We went from living in grass huts and hunting meat and foraging vegetables to a complete economy driven market, where we can buy local and international foods.

And then there are fascinating social cases such as:

• the American Flag being put on school entrances in schools in Iran, which students avoided stepping on (despite having every reason to be mad at the USA).
• Or when a fanatical Christian burned the Quran and in response a Muslim in Sweden asked the Swedish government for permission to publicly burn the Bible and when the time came for the stage the Muslim said "No. I am better than that" and did not burn the Bible.
• Or the Russians sabotaging their own equipment and railways, which would be used to carry out the attacks in Ukraine.

• Some people ACTUALLY understand, that the government - not the people - are trying to get us to fight each other and that we are being shown propaganda
• Edward Snowden for exposing the mass surveillance

That's from a takeoff of the space shuttle Endeavour (spelled incorrectly to honor the boat it's named for). What's so impressive about that?

The fact that it doesn't impress you. We, humanity, decided to strap a bunch of humans to an explosion and stab a hole in the sky with fire and math so that we could hurl a giant artificial meteorite back into the face of Mother Nature to prove that we can do that, too. And then somehow, we became jaded enough to lose interest in that.

My Japanese aunt who passed recently did exactly this. She met my uncle in Okinawa while he was on deployment. She said one reason she left was to escape her imperialistic father who worked for the Japanese government as a foreign ambassador. Turns out, she did a lot for him. My relatives are still working with him to right his keel because he still misses her and it really is true that you don’t know what you have until it’s gone. She lived such a remarkable life. Not many people can say they were asked on a date by Yogi friggin Berra. I was dumbfounded reading her obituary.

My uncle cried throughout the procession.

Humans can engineer some really wild stuff. We have a level of curiosity and problem solving that will always impress and inspire me.

Also, how diverse we are. We're one species, but we have so many different cultures, beliefs, languages and lifestyles. Some of us are incredibly modern, yet some of us are still primitive. We really ARE strange creatures
