My boyfriend is under financial stress and is distant. What should I do?

So recently my bf has become financially unstable and I've notice a slight Change in him... From the sex...to.the days we hang out...i would go over sat sun and sometimes mon because that's our usual free time. Even his cute texting changed...he still says good morning to me...but doesn't say goodnight anymore...but he still calls ever other day. He even took his stress out on me once but apologized for it stating he was just stressed...He didn't bring up us hanging out this past weekend but wanted to see me Sunday night after a fair he had to attend. I didn't have much time with him since it was late we watched a movie for 30 min and went to sleep. Wether he has money or not it will never take away the love I have for him...so my question is...is it normal for men to become distant with financial stress? And what can I do for support without smothering him at the same time?

Give him space, that is supporting him, he has other things going on right now which are important, he must deal with this in his own way, be understanding, say you'll be there when he wants you and let him come to you.
