No, atheists pretend that they still do not act in accordance with religious ethic.
Few of them have read Nietzsche and/or Dostoevsky and truly comprehend what it means to be an "atheist" in the first place; I will give you a hint: it does not just mean blithely stating "YO JOHNNY CHRISTIAN I AM AN ATHEIST SCREW YOUR GOD".
They do not understand the consequences of atheism, which are universally negative for the time being, because no one has developed a comprehensive secular moral/ethical system.
They do not realize that totalitarian states like the USSR and N-Germany were atheistic precisely because they knew that atheists are easier to indoctrinate.
And they think that somehow, because they are atheists, that they will just magically become Cartesian rationalists; this is incredibly wrong.
Human beings, without monotheistic religion, default to nature and body worship. They do NOT just become rational creatures. They search for some meaning in life. It is BECAUSE they are searching that ideologues like feminists and communists can so, so much more easily indoctrinate them.
So, unless your name is Richard Dawkins or Nietzsche, get the fuck out of here with your thinking you are somehow better than me.
Get on my level, atheist B! tch.

No, I don’t think atheists are necessarily stronger people it really all depends on the person’s genetics and life experiences that make them stronger or not stronger. A lot of UFC fighters are fairly religious and they have obviously a physically and mentally tough plate of armor, also soldiers or military personnel are religious and they are one of the toughest groups of humans in all of humanity’s civilizations and history. Sometimes believing in something can make you stronger. Just because you believe in god or a higher being doesn’t mean you don’t believe in science or logic.
Just because someone is religious doesn't mean they literally and physically do not endure hardships. They have to go through the exact same emotions and trials and hurt and pain as any non religious person would.
I am pretty sure people as a whole deal with their pain differently. Do you think no non religious person has told themselves a "lie" to make themselves better ever?
A person feeling comforted by their religious book saying "it is going to be OK" is no different than a friend telling you "it is going to be OK". Nobody knows if it's gonna be fucking OK but people say it all the time.
So moral to the story, let's not try to act like one group is superior to another over a incredibly petty thing.
The atheists I have met put down other religions while mocking people who believe in God and brag about being atheist. That comes across as weak and insecure to me. I am yet to meet an atheist who respects all religions and goes about his business. I'm not even the most religious. I don't believe everything in various religious books and teachings but I keep my opinion to myself and I don't shove my opinions down others throats. In fact I find other people's beliefs interesting and fascinating and I try to learn more where I can.
I'm confused, what do you mean by weak? Like, refusing to accept reality?

I'm an atheist.
I got bullied for not believing in God.
I don't see the point in it, it seems like a lie, like everything else in life, we are all lied to daily, by people and the goverment.
I believe that seeing is believing, I never saw God, so I don't believe he ever existed in the first place...
God wasn't there when my 2nd family burned to death in Grenfell Tower (it was my home for 19 years).
I tried to save them...
But I was scared and in shock, I cried and couldn't sleep for weeks, my people prayed to God for the rain storm to put out the fire if it could...
But the rain never came to put out the fire...
The fire fighters did...
Now if God is real like people say he is, then he better of taken their souls to heaven...
Innocent people died by neglect from the council and goverment...
Where was God when they all burned to death?
But now I have PTSD, because I was there before the fire even started...
My people were murdered...
Don't ever believe anything the media, or on the news says...
Its all lies...Atheists keep saying that they have stronger wills because it takes a strong mind not to believe in "fantasy" as they put it. But I think it is quite the opposite. It would be quite comforting to be certain that nothing in this life truly mattered and you had no judgement waiting for you beyond this.
A person could be as immoral or unethical as you wished and all they had to look forward to was oblivion. Maybe it takes a stronger mind to embrace that what you do in this life does matter and what is waiting beyond this life is something you must reckon with.Yes and No. This is like saying are non smokers superior to smokers because smoking can be a crutch. True in some cases but a blanket rule like this flat doesn't work.
Religious folks who belive in an afterlife are going to be less afraid then atheists because they belive ultimately we all are going to get what's coming to us. So that's less stress, less fear more satisfaction in life.
On the other hand Atheists do not let to of the illusion of control as readily and this can be a strength too as they are more inclined to seek out what they think they deserve. But sometimes things are just not in your control
Personally I think it comes down to the person not belief or lack ofYes, I think to some degree that is probably true. Now, I'm not saying that every believer is weak because that would most certainly be wrong. However, as a tendency, atheists are usually more "strong" in the sense that they can put facts over emotions. I certainly prefer to believe what's true than what makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
But there's a second aspect to this. While the thought of an omniscient, all-powerful god can be very comforting to some people, most atheists feel that the absence of such a god is even more comforting. Certainly if we look at the monotheistic gods God/Jahwe/Allah, we can count ourselves happy they don't exist because they are horrific, barbaric monsters. Also, in my opinion, the beauty of our planet and our universe becomes even more outstanding and breathtaking when you realize that there's no cognisant force behind it. Most natural scientists feel that way.I'm an agnostic and its often mentioned in the same vein. But us and Atheists are mentally stronger people because we didn't drink the Kool Aid. People try to talk about religion and I can't. YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT FREAKING INVISIBLE ENTITIES, RESURRECTION, VIRGIN BIRTHS, MIRACLES. Every religious premise has more holes that Swiss cheese. As does much of science's explanation of how we got here. People throw out the old' You have to believe in something or you'll fall for anything. What a crock of shit. No logical explanation exists and I should be compelled to choose one? Fuck that. I proudly say 3 words. "I don't know."
Are most religious people around the world broke and helpless and use religion as a cruch? Yes.
Athiests are no better though; instead of religion they use their family, drugs, acholcol, entertainment, sex, porn or whatever they can use as cruch to relieve their pain and sorrows.
Everyone has pain and sorrows in life. Some use religion and others use others means.
Therefore athiests are no better than religious people who rely on religion for comfort.Strong people are stronger.
Doesn't matter what you believe.
Atheism is in a way just as naive as religion. It's why we call it "The Big Bang - Theory". What helped science advance is admitting that we don't know anything, and that theories may be completely wrong. And so, it'd mean that the theory of evolution, of the big bang, etc, would just be possibilities. My grandfather -- a physicist, for example, has a slightly alternate theory to the big bang. Regardless, that and that is a theory.
Just last sentence to think about for those reading;
Anything one would assume supernatural if it occurred in nature, would in fact be; Natural.I have couple atheist friends they always say they hate the world , hate other people and i hear many negative things... I stopped being with my close friend because he is changing to worse now he started came up with all type of stories how his life is cool he travels a lot earns a lot. When in reality i catched him lying to me and lie about all this amazing trips.
I think atheist are more weaker. Because it's easy to fallow and do what ever you want and dont hold any rules, but its not easy to try to live by rules and try to keep your self clean from all the dirt from this world. So who is stronger?I disagree because almost all religious people I know are logical, practical and don't ever rely on their religion for their problems. They are just like everyone else in almost every way. Can't speak for all religious people, but we can't speak for all atheists either, really.
Atheists are heavily head and concept based at the expense of other spheres of consciousness: It's called repression. You can be aloof and snooty in any given moment, but generally, atheists act like everybody else.
Subjective experience poses us with many problems. While the lens is on you, you can be all uppity if you like. But behind the scenes, we all know the tumult that goes on.Potentially, although that only holds up if they have nothing as a replacement comfort. You can be athiest but seek towards alternative religions such as political correctness, safe spaces and social groups that confirm your biasses, drugs, anti depression, etc.
So if you are 100% scientific and rational 100% of the time, then yes you got something that most people do not have which makes you a strong person. If not we are probably quite the same.I don't think atheists are necessarily stronger or weaker.
Sure, an atheist isn't leaning on any crutch regarding the after life. But that can break them.
And a religious person can rely on religion as a crutch in times of crisis, because their faith is real even if the atheist thinks their god is not.Stronger? I don't know what you mean by "strong" here. In general, atheists are more thoughtful and less emotional than religious adherents. Many believers become quite upset when their beliefs are questioned, and would prefer not to be reminded that many people are happy without religion.
If anyone knew the strength it takes to be an atheist in the Bible Belt, they wouldn't be answering No to this poll. It would be far easier to go along with the flow and lie about being a believer. It takes a great strength of will to be honest when asked about your atheism and run the very real risk of being shunned for it. I'm not saying people of faith are weaker, just that atheists aren't weaker, either.
Some atheists actively pursue their belief as if it it were a religion. To them, disbelieving in a divine being is an article of faith, not reason. I'm not sure how this is any different from holding any other faith.
But for those who are merely skeptical, yes. Those atheists who confront life without the shield of faith are certainly braver than I.Among other things, faith brings and builds hope, joy, self confidence, and willpower.
You can love a person without being blind and lacking any ability in building logic, and love helps both comfort and strengthen you in harsh situations. Faith in God is a kind of love that is just as true in this.I agree with what @BlueCoyote said, but i also don't think it's limited to "atheists" but rather to people who are unaffiliated with religion as a normal aspect, there are many people whom have their own belief systems that are regulated to a higher power necessarily, but rather to other things, such as nature, the Stars etc.. To each their own
For the most part I respect everyone but I see most atheists as lazy & brainwashed by their teachers and society. It's so much easier to give up and say you believe in nothing that to do the hard yards to find out what is true.
Depends on you, religion is not a factor when it comes to a person being strong or weak because it all depends on who you are and how you become you , for me religion is a way of living as it balances it and help me be a better person in general.
I rather say that a person who cannot be committed to a faith is rather weak.
