Silliness blaming this stuff on God. Atheists mostly have this covered -- we sleep around but have the money to buy condoms and the sense to use them. So God doesn't punish people for having sex. It's just a fact that having unprotected sex with strangers is risky. And guess who is at the greatest risk in the US? Ignorant teenagers who went through "abnistence-only sex non-education" ? You know, the ones who live in the most religious parts of the country? In places where they teach the truth about prophylaxis and contraception teenage pregnancies and STD infection rates are much lower.

No. That's what protection is for. A lot of the pictures in the above post seem to be shaming women for being promiscuous, not about STD's. If you're gonna shame for having lots of sex- shame both sexes. Or neither- that's just way easier.

I agree with the most part, especially the part of not shaming men and women for having lots of sex. I disagree in that "you can have sex every day and never contract anything". If you have sex every day with the same person, yeah, sure; now, if you have lots of casual sex, you'll get some kind of STD, because a condom isn't the solution to everything.

No, not really, considering married couples can get STD's, all it takes is for one partner to be born with something (like HIV) or to have had an experience where they contracted something and was unaware.

A person can have sex with one person and contract an STD, because you don't know the history of others who have been in their lives and like I said, there are some you are BORN with, like HIV.

Yes, and some people can be a host for an STD without showing any symptoms, nor be sick from it at all. This could be true of Gonorrhea, Chlamydia and other things. They could catch it from someone infected, and spread it without knowing they're sick. Or AIDS from a blood transfusion.

You can catch an STD even if you are not promiscuous. So no I do not think so, though what frightens me is just how ignorant people are to infections like herpes and chlamydia (two common forms of STD's).

People really need to think about the effects that STD's can have on their health. Is having a brief period of sexual pleasure really worth a life time of dealing with outbreaks of herpes?

But what are diseases really? It's bacteria and other organisms messing with your well working cells. But eventully their host will die and so will they so they need to find a way to jump to a new host, and well the bacteria responsible for stds found a good one.
It's always an arms race. With widely available condom now, maybe they'll be extinct in a few decades

I think disease in general can be: "man was too curious, slept with a sheep, and didn't know the microorganisms could make him sick", whether that is Divine Punishment or not is not for me to say, not that sex with animals will exactly designate a person for sainthood - I see it as mental illness, which may or may not be a sin and not for me to say. In some cases, I wish I could know that certain diseases were Karma sent directly from the Man Upstairs (to specific, nasty people), but I can't really say and would not hope it's true that Elephantiasis is a curse to Africa because God is pissed. Some disease could be considered a curse "by ignorance". Not for me to say what God thinks about it. I sometimes wonder, though.
