Talk to your doctor and find out what a healthy weight for you to be is. I wasn't overweight, but I had put on some lbs and wanted to know if it was safe to lose weight and if I was normal. My doctor gave me a range of where my healthy weight would be and I went from there.
I cut out junk food and fast food, I eat lean proteins, no pork or beef, lots of vegetables, whole wheat carbs, and am constantly learning new recipes to make healthy food good.
I also work out 3-4 times a week, and I do cardio, core and some strength.
Also make sure to get all of your essential metals, vitamins and so on so you don't lose energy.

Keep a food journal and record your food intake and mood. Try to watch your portion sizes and drinking lots of water. Eat slower to savor your food so you can trick your stomach into thinking it's full sooner. Try to get in some cardio 30 min a day and add in some weight training to build muscle cuz muscles is what burns fat. Keep a positive attitude. Message me if ya want more help as you progress! Since November I've lost 30lbs... I was. Size 18... probaly almost 20... and now I'm almost in a size 16.. i did bariatric... it's expensive... but, it's like the only thing that ever worked for me. I'm eating healthier too and I'm working out more too.
I recommend you check out Blogilates on youtube... She is a miracle worker with exercises, I was a size 10 and now I'm a size 6 because i did two or three of her exercises a day.
Also eat healthy, make sure you portion out and have you necessary food groups.
Also, Avocados are extremely healthy and give you energyCount your calories.
Also, running, lifting, and core workouts.
