My boyfriend moved 2 months ago and met someone else. But now he wants to meet me to “talk”. WHY?

We were in a relationship for 1.5 years, and he started ghosting me after he moved to another country for work. I got short responses to my texts, so after a couple of attempts I didn’t bother to reach out. 2 months after he moved, he texted me that he met someone few weeks ago. He refused to talk on the phone with me and insisted that we meet in person when he’s in town after 2 weeks so that he can explain. I don’t understand why he wants to meet me now when he can simply apologize or provide his reasons over a phone call/text?

We never broke up. Everything was good between us before he moved. We had a really good time until the day he moved. We planned on talking about how we want to proceed with the relationship once he moved. And in his last message about him having met someone few weeks ago, he also mentioned “it is not cheating as we weren’t in a relationship. But I would like to meet to in person so that I can talk”.

We were in a relationship and it was obvious.
So I am confused as to why he would even need a closure now? Since in his mind we weren’t even in a relationship!!

IF you decide to meet up with him.. make him work for it.. I'm not normally one for playing games but it's a bit lousy the way he's treated you.
