If You Can Travel Back In Time, What Generation Would You Prefer to Date in your 20s?
Hbu?
The world started turning to sh*t in 2015 and if I could choose a year to die in, it'd be 2020 at maybe age 85. I honestly wouldn't need to live past 2020.
So doing the math, that would mean, I'd need to be born in 1935, which mean I'd start dating in 1955. Gettin' Back To The Future vibes here. Yeah, I'm black, but I think I'd have a better chance getting a partner in 1955 America, then I would as any race in 2025 America.
But if I had to pick the ideal time to start dating, it'd be the 90s. That was the perfect mix of technology without becoming dystopian like the Twitter, Reddit, and Facebook era of today. So maybe I could be born in 1978, but then, that would mean I would die at age 42 in 2020. ... Meh, I'd take it.
It’s hard to say. So many people look at the past with rose colored glasses, it’s hard to say what life and the people were really like.
People look at the Happy Days/American Graffiti image of the 1950’s, without the Korean War, segregation, or a teen pregnancy rate far higher than today’s.
My late grandmother (1914-2013) was a self righteous stone thrower and thought all young women were whores. She, and my other grandmother both had their first child within six months of getting married.
I'd love to have grown up in the '70's. My mother was born in '54 so when I was growing up in the '90's, she still played that funk music. She'd joke about the '90's style clothes and how they were copying the flare jeans, kimonos, and ponchos. And the cars!!
I’d say mid seventies to early eighties we’re some of the worst cars this country ever made. A friend had a theory that Ford built the Pinto and Chevrolet built the Vega and Chevette to convince Americans they didn’t want small cars.
If I could travel back in time, I would like to live in the 1980s. I love all the movies back then, the music, and the fashion! It would have been a great decade to have lived in!

As a historian of the periods between late 1800s up to the 1950s, I can easily say I'd want to live in the Roaring Twenties. The clothes, the cars, the industries, the lifestyles, et cetera are major interests for me. Since I can't go back to that time, I instead bring it to me by dressing in 1920s clothes, collecting antiques, watching the old films and so on.
People love to look down at bygone eras but there were plenty of positives. Without the Victorians, for example, we wouldn't have a lot of what we have today.
As for dating, yeah, definitely any period before 1960. Classy, feminine, and traditional women. That all went downhill after the 60's and 70's.
I think it would have been nice to be in my 20s in the 1970s or 1980s. Great music, great atmosphere, I like the movies of those decades and I regret that I was too young to experience any of that.
90s would have been cool as well I guess, I experienced that decade but it would interesting to experience it again as someone in their 20s.
I think the 1990s would fit more of my style. I find people in their 1980s and prior to be very uneducated, wild and jungle like. The 1960s is just prude
60’s or older. I’m a very old-fashioned person so I think that would work well for me.
Likewise :D Old-fashioned and proud of it.
It means I could have meant my partner earlier and would have been able to enjoy more time together. Plus I like to think we were fun in the 10s lol
Women in the USA tend to keep magnifying the disrespectful demeanor.
I like a woman with class, dignity, poise, and strong standards. For the longest I was interested in forign women because USA seems to have little of that left.
Some time much earlier?
https://www.youtube.com/embed/JNS42Na2mpcI kind of want to say the eighties but bisexuals were not accepted back then so... yeeaah. I actually have something to thank the sjws for, nobody cares these days that I am bisexual or autistic.
I'd like to give the bobbysoxers of the 1950s a try.
The “roaring ‘20s” would be kool! But i think i’d fit in better in the 1940s or 1950s.
1840's or 1850's for me!
1920's or 1940's they dont make them like they used to.
`60's. Second stop, `80's. IF I made a third, early `90's.
The 60s were awesome. The Moon landing, Woodstock, Vietnam and the Beatles.
I'd go back to 1999 to change something - to tell my class mate I was crazy about him. I never got the courage to tell him back then.
That could be quite a complicated time jump, reversing both time and age independently yet simultaneously? 🤣
The 90s because the same wild and on top of it it was the birth of a lot of music
I would invest in the stock market and various stocks. I'd buy all the gold, before President Nixon took it dollar off the gold standard.
loved the 90s. music was amazing, was dealing with a ton of shit, but Id start in the early 2000s an fix mistakes
Look at all the blue users wanting to go as far back in time as possible. We all know why...
You say blue users like it was a bad thing...
@EnglishEuropean If you say so.
You don't agree?
@EnglishEuropean Nope.
My bad I guess.
@EnglishEuropean The bad part was the "wanting to go as far back in time as possible".
If it means living in caves I'm not up for that.
@EnglishEuropean It means living in times when women had virtually no right and could legally and morally be treated like property. That's what most blue users here want.
