I'm not really a flowers person, personally. At least not on a first date, or anything earlier in the relationship. I prefer gifts, if there are any, to reflect that he notices what I like, instead of just something that women generically appreciate.
But loads of girls love getting flowers. I would never say it's old-school. And I actually would probably be really pleased if he just got me some for no particular reason, just to make me happy. It's different somehow that way, instead of just, "I think I need to bring a gift, what do girls like, oh, yeah, flowers."
Anyway, I think for most people, it's a nice gesture.
Don't give them if she has to carry them around with her.
A single rose is sweet, but that not big a deal. But if you're walking down the street, and a woman comes along selling them, sure. It's romantic.
Good is bringing a bouquet when you go to pick her up at her house.
Best is having a bouquet delivered to her office. Chicks go wild over that. It's a pride/territorial thing.

If your date is at a local KFC then it's old school. If you're taking her to a formal suit and dress restaurant, then not so much.
A lot of people might disagree but I bet flowers will still be appreciated.

💯 still in trend. I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t want some unless they’re from the only fans gang. Then you might need a Tiffany & co’s pendant or something. I always appreciate flowers 🌸
One of my favorite things to get is some sort of potted plant. That's probably not very romantic, and might not really be a date sort of gift, but pretty much every adult woman I know loves to get a potted plant.

I’d be so delighted and thankful if I got got me flowers period.. I appreciate little things like that. Not many guys do that no more it seems.
It's still considered romantic and gentlemen-like. I wouldn't ever say it's too old school. My dad still gets mom flowers from time to time.
I'd be more interested in experiences that are fun and memorable. Save the flowers for a surprise after you've been dating a while. A guy sent me dozen roses after we were sexual.

Unless you're picking her up at her place flowers are in my opinion a nuisance since she has to carry them and all that.
I've never gotten flowers on a date. (besides valentines day, from my dad. but thats different)
