Why guys don't believe me when I tell them I'm a virgin?

I'm 23 years old and I've never gone out on dates, I've never had a boyfriend and I haven't even had my first kiss yet. (obviously I'm a virgin). I never felt desperate to do it as a teenager but over time I noticed that boys always passed me by and treated me like just their friend, to the point that sometimes I felt displaced and ignored by them even when I was interested in or attracted to some boy. , has a girlfriend or is not interested in me and I simply walk away and respect his position. I was talking with some friends from college the other night and suddenly they asked me why I didn't have a boyfriend. I explained to them that I never had the opportunity to experience anything with anyone because no guy has ever approached me with that intention or at least shown that kind of interest in me. For them it was like I was lying to their faces because there was no way that "a girl like me" was a virgin at my age or that I had never had a boyfriend, much less had my first kiss. Why is it difficult to believe something like this?

Well, here is why a lot of these guys won't believe you.

For one, most 23 year olds are statistically not virgins of any sort (and for the record, I didn't lose my intercourse virginity until I was 26 years old, so I know what it's like to be a late bloomer). However, here in the United States of America, it is statistically more common to be an adult virgin than at any point in documented U. S. History, so this should be less surprising.

Second of all, many guys have this notion that all other women are promiscuous, and they can't bear to think that some of them are, indeed, virgins. Usually, it's because men in your age group (whom I assume you're speaking of) are insecure babies who can't handle rejection, or don't want to talk to women appropriately. So, if they just assume all women in your age group are "hoes", they don't have to feel left out for being single, and dare they actually admit there could be female virgins.

Of course, some insecure man-children actually believe you, but they won't admit it.

I'm really similar to you, never dated nor anything, some don't believe it and some others when I become closer with ( new best friends) when they ask me and I tell them never they tell me that that's what they've expected and if I were to tell them otherwise they'll be extremely shocked, because I look innocent, but the irony is than I live in a Muslim community where such things things outside of marriage are forbidden (Haram), yet still some others tell me "m3iqda" I don't know how to translate it but it kinda means why don't you? Kinda "your closed off when it comes to ( smth)"/dating but in a bad way, they're very few though.

"M3iqda" in Arabic means complicated, but in our dialect it's something close to traumatized without being traumatized if that makes any sense.

I can completely understand your situation. When it comes to a religious issue and issues of your beliefs, it is much more understandable. About my. I don't consider myself closed. To be honest my point is: I party with these people, they have known me for a long time. They themselves have witnessed that even when we go out no one outside my circle of friends approaches me and when they do they are only friendly. I repeat, I'm not desperate so I try to just have a good time and not think about it too much. Because they think I'm lying about something they themselves have witnessed. They've never seen me flirting with guys at parties. When they go out with me it is common for the guys who approach to flirt and be interested in my other friends except for me.

Because being 23 years old and a virgin isn't the norm when people usually lose their virginity around 16 or 17 on average at least here in the U. S.
