Would you continue date someone when you learn they live in a real bad part of your city?

So lets say you like this person and want to continue dating them, however they happen to live in a real terrible part of the city. could you overlook that and still keep dating them?

By bad it could be any or all of the following things: higher crime rate, poor dilapidated and abandoned buildings. potholes nearly everywhere. litter all over the place. graffiti, gang activity, homeless tents on the sidewalks. just... the ghetto basically. Could you do it?

I chose this one because My boyfriend is from a very poor family, and he’s putting himself through college. He works a LOT. but he lives in what have to be the cheapest apartments in G’ville, and it’s so far from campus, it’s debatable whether it technically inside the actual city! But that doesn't stop me from being his girlfriend, or even living with him while the protests are going on, on campus. No, this is similar to the “penis size” question, in that my answer is the same… I am in love with the man, not his penis, and certainly nothing as superficial as where he eats dinner, does his homework, watches TV, and sleeps at night! Believe it of not, it was my parents who asked HIM if I could stay here while all this protesting, and violent attacks against students are going on! But no, I’ve dated guys who lived in some really sketchy neighborhoods. This is college, there are over 60,000 students enrolled here, and most students are broke! I mean the tuition is expensive, but some of the books are fckn’ outrageous! almost $300 for a hard-cover textbook, and the “you’ll need a binder for that one” books written by the professors, can be well over $200 for 100 photocopied pages that were “conveniently" 3 hole punched! So you get used to dating guys who live in crappy apartments, with a-hole roommates, in terrible neighborhoods! Although my mom who went to med-school here in the 1990’s says it’s MUCH nicer now, than it was in the ’90’s! I’m glad I was not here then!

Yes… yes they have! One of my undergrad Psych books (other than the $290 text book) was the almost $200 REQUIRED 75 photocopied pages, of mostly lined pages for us to write our thoughts and feelings in! When my mom saw what my professor charged my trust fund nearly $200 for, she had a fit!

When I originally started dating my husband, he was living in a really shitty building on the east side. Lots of drugs, stabbings and shootings. We couldn’t afford to move out at the time because I was still in school. But we knew eventually we would leave there. A year later, we took a transfer elsewhere.

Consider I myself live in the ghetto of my city I know it means nothing

I keep a clean and Tidy home, work a corporate job make ok money.

But I don't wanna live in a tiny appartement or have roommates so I chose an affordable option to have a decent sized place for an affordable price

Just because you live in a bad area you are not automatically bad.

My boyfriend is from a bad area originally and so are some of my friends. We just spent time at my place and places outside of that. Luckily none of them stayed in those places and are doing well for themselves but just because someone doesn’t have the best start doesn’t mean you shouldn’t associate with them. There is a difference between being in a place and being that place if that makes sense

I could do it. I've never liked the good side of town myself, and I've more often lived on the bad side. Tho not the worst parts but, I don't assume we'll be going out and doing dumb shit together if it's dangerous.

Where someone lives doesn’t change who they are. If they’re awesome who cares where they live? I would definitely ask to spend more time at my place, but I’m dating them, not their zip code!
